I can only speak for my area where I live and who I hang out with, but

Commonly spoken names are: ODLH, Kobe, Shaq, A-Rod, Beckham, Henry.

When I bring up Pacquiao to the average Joe I hang out with the ask 3 or 4 times how to pronounce it and then ask if he's any good. I am sure in the Phillipines and anyone worldwide that follows boxing even casually or occasionally would know him, I haven't met that many people that know who he is. Where I live though boxing is not very popular anymore.

I do however find it funny that someone would write an article that says basically "PAC is popular" not exactly investigative journalism, kinda one of those things that goes without saying if it's true.

I can say that PAC is very popular in the internet worldwide... Just like in the internet boxing forums, for example in this forum, PAC is heavily discussed.

I remember PACQUIAO made it to Yahoo's top 5 list of most search names/words...

And if a internet boxing website carry any news about PAC, it will surely get a lot of hits. I can even sense that some boxers called out PAC just to have their name in the news. One of the latest is Amir Khan. Maybe this is the workings of the management of those boxers. They wanted some free publicity of their own boxers so why not call out PAC.

Of course he is heavily discussed here, you post a new topic about him every 20 minutes.

I'm just messin with ya anyway, but to say PAC is more popular worldwide than ODLH is ridiculous. 3.7 million ppv buys says so.

PAC's most simple and casual daily activities (scuba diving, missing a plane, etc.) draw more readers compared to casual news about other sports superstars... ODLH most recent big "casual" news is the fishnet story...

I like Manny and he is a big name in the sporting world but not quite that big...

    1. ODLH is the biggest name in boxing hands down

    2. Any writer that uses the word "Duh" in his article I question his knowledge of anything

    3. More of the average person on the street would know Evander Holyfield's name before Pacquiao's if we went world wide....Don't take my word for it do a test of your own..Pacqiao is famous in the sporting world and his homeland but not to the average person

    4. The ONLY ATHLETE to EVER garner the attention this guy claims Pacquia does is Muhammad Ali...Even this long after his fighting days...That man can get press just by opening his front door..

This kid is a bit too much of a fan and past the slightly biased point...He needs to stop writing for 15 rounds and start his own Pacquiao homepage.....

And in no way do I mean anything negative towards Manny...The guy is a tremendous fighter and does have quite some popularity but not to the extent this guy makes out

I'm not a fan of baseball, but I am definately aware of the rivalry you guys have up there. While you may speak ill of A-rod, you still speak of him though. $28,000,000 a year is more than me and all 500 of my cousins make combined!!

This is true... I do still speak of him.

Yeah, I hate the yankees... And the Giants...

Patriots, Celts, Sox and Bruins... Can't go wrong (except with the bruins)

More controversy surounded Ali then any other boxer... Some others prior to him like Jack Johnson would have but the media wasn't as huge as it is now...

Tyson was a good heavy and a phenom but not even close to Ali. Most of those articles are due to Tysons histrionics outside the ring...

Ali is as recognizeable as Tyson. Ali will forever be thought of as the better fighter, which makes him more popular...

    End of story.

    Hope that helps
