Cotto's fight with Torres was a war but judah one for example was not, He lost a couple of the earlier rounds but he dominated from the middle rounds to the end.

spot on macho
Cotto could easily make the transition to 154 and what with the current level of competition at that weight i suspect he`d dominate it just as much as he did at 140 and 147....mad reps coming your way when im able to rep you again.
Mayweather moving up just seems stupid, eventually he is going to find that at a much heavier weight even those snap punches that come from nowhere wont hurt an opponent half as much as it would at his original weight.
Cotto though is your typical ring bully, he`d fit right in at that weight and who knows a possible showdown with ODLH could eventually be on the cards as it seems quite obvious PBF is doing everything to avoid miguel!!
No it doesn't Mayweather used the same tactics with Hatton, and they fought. He is just allowing the fight to grow into something that will make him the most money possible without allowing himself to get too old to be able to keep up with Cotto. I still don't see fighting Oscar being a whole lot easier than fighting Cotto.
Floyd is only fighting once from here on in because he realises he is now the most marketable boxer on the planet and by fighting ODLH now and somebody else lets say next summer he is able to keep the bank balance ticking over and furthermore avoid cotto at every turning.
I dont blame PBF for fighting ODLH over miguel this time around. Too much money involved for too little a risk for floyd to turn it down.Though once he has dispatched of ODLH a 2nd time around and miguel sees off marg the fight HAS to happen otherwise i like most hardcore boxing fans will always remember floyd for avoiding cotto like the plague.
Beat Cotto and floyds legacy is mantained for generations!!!
Cotto has never really been hurt. He got time to play this little cat mouse game that PBF is playing. Floyd ain't no dummy, Cotto ends careers. IF THIS FIGHT EVER HAPPENS im sure the future for Floyd is still bright in entertainment and acting.
ye he could definatley move up to 154 i think, but he should onyl really do this any time soon if its to fight oscar, im not too keen on any possible showdowns with the likes of cory spinks or verno phillips
i think he would beast oscar though till a late stoppage, with a nice body shot, hopkins style![]()
Depend Mexirican , if Cotto or Margarito win , Floyd have to fight for Unified , he cant escape of that , unless that he retire of boxing like he said " I dont want the boxing retire me , i will retire of boxing ".......
But is true he isnt Dummy , but to me is a real Coward if he dont make fight with whoever win between Cotto and Margaro.............![]()
Cotto has been hurt, not sure how that's debatable, he was out on his feet pretty much versus Corley, thankfully Corley's literally one of the worst finishers I've ever seen.
That being said like other people have noted he hasn't really been in that many grueling "war" type fights. I would say the Torres fight was pretty much it. Corley had one big round but didn't sustain it. I've always thought it was overestimated how hurt he was versus Judah and after the first couple rounds it was just a beatdown. The Mosley fight was just a good tough fight.
He also can box well on the back foot, something he might start doing more as his career goes on. He's just now entering his prime IMO although that's obviously a subjective thing.
I doubt Cotto is gonna go to war with Margarito. Cotto isn't stupid. He'll try to box, move, keep out of the way, go to the body and if Margarito wilts he'll try to stop him late. But Cotto isn't the type of fighter that would get into a war unless he absolutely had to. And I don't know if Margarito is gonna be able to force him to. I can see Margarito getting frustrated and if he loses the decision say Cotto didn't stand and trade with him. But Cotto is a smarter fighter then people want to give him credit for. He likes to move likes to jab(now) and breaks a fighter down while looking for their weakness.
True.. I think that one is much more accurate the other way around.... I think beating Mayweather is a LOT bigger event on Cotto's resume,,,, than beating Cotto would be on Mayweathers resume as he goes into retirement..
It's hard to think of many Welters at any time in boxing that you could say would wipe the floyd with Floor.... His Legacy will go down as one of the great ones,,, at least in the eyes of anyone that know anything about boxing..
Sure he won't be remembered for coming out bloodied and beaten, victorious after being through war after war...... But as far as stepping in the ring and coming out on top of his opponent.. Floyd is one of the best in history... He will no doubt be another of those measuring sticks that future fighters are compared to for years to come.
"How would blah blah go against a prime Floyd Mayweather"... It has a ring to it...

thing is people like to hold era's against boxers. If a boxer comes through a division and beats everyone and then retires they will say that he didnt fight the best in the division just because they didnt recognize their names.
Mayweather beat the best at 130, at 135 and beat the best at 140(Hatton) even though he beat him at 147 it doesnt matter. And he IS the best at 147. So I don't see why people don't give him credit.
But fans seem to be picky nowadays. They give excuses for Cotto but then try to say he is ready for Mayweather.
Cotto they say "He deserves an easy fight I don't hold it against him" but if Mayweather took an easy fight they would raise holy hell against him.
But you ask why they bash Floyd and not Cotto they say "Floyd is the p4p one and Cotto is just getting started, he can get an easy fight"
So they basically admit that Cotto isnt on Floyd's level, yet they try to act like he is ducking him
Make any sense?
Abdulaev? He put on a clinic almost on par with what he did to Gomez. They have the same fighting style except Cotto blasted through Abdulaev's guard 'til he has a swollen forehead. I'd say if he keeps having fights like the ones with Judah and Mosley then he has fewer than five years. Unless Cotto is just one of those guys who naturally lasts. I don't see Cotto revamping his style, ala Gatti, and having success. Cotto needs to eat leather sometimes to get to the other guy.
Ive seen mayweather make hard work of average opponents.
i honestly cant say the same about cotto as he always risen to the occasion despite the fact he is a very slow starter.
Floyds record is there for all to see, he has beaten everyone there is to beat....just not cotto who has been one of the worlds best fighters for 2-3 years now.
Cotto fought at 140 when floyd was there, cotto is now fighting at 147 which floyd is considered the best at despite the fact cotto has rolled through his opposition (mosley apart that was pretty tough to score) yet floyd has seemed to struggle on occasions.
If the fight eventually never happens it`ll be because floyd is afraid and certainly not cottos fault!!!
Cotto is just getting started, he's gotten nothing but faster and better over his last couple of fights.
