When people say this it always Puzzles me. What has Cotto done that makes him that "great" to put that kind of dent on mayweathers career?

no disrespect to Cotto, but still.

True.. I think that one is much more accurate the other way around.... I think beating Mayweather is a LOT bigger event on Cotto's resume,,,, than beating Cotto would be on Mayweathers resume as he goes into retirement..

It's hard to think of many Welters at any time in boxing that you could say would wipe the floyd with Floor.... His Legacy will go down as one of the great ones,,, at least in the eyes of anyone that know anything about boxing..
Sure he won't be remembered for coming out bloodied and beaten, victorious after being through war after war...... But as far as stepping in the ring and coming out on top of his opponent.. Floyd is one of the best in history... He will no doubt be another of those measuring sticks that future fighters are compared to for years to come.
"How would blah blah go against a prime Floyd Mayweather"... It has a ring to it...

thing is people like to hold era's against boxers. If a boxer comes through a division and beats everyone and then retires they will say that he didnt fight the best in the division just because they didnt recognize their names.

Mayweather beat the best at 130, at 135 and beat the best at 140(Hatton) even though he beat him at 147 it doesnt matter. And he IS the best at 147. So I don't see why people don't give him credit.

But fans seem to be picky nowadays. They give excuses for Cotto but then try to say he is ready for Mayweather.

Cotto they say "He deserves an easy fight I don't hold it against him" but if Mayweather took an easy fight they would raise holy hell against him.

But you ask why they bash Floyd and not Cotto they say "Floyd is the p4p one and Cotto is just getting started, he can get an easy fight"

So they basically admit that Cotto isnt on Floyd's level, yet they try to act like he is ducking him

    Make any sense?
