I really dont buy into the whole pavlik phenomena, 2-3 decent wins dont make a great fighter.
Thats all it took for Calzaghe fans to be convinced. He only has a couple of great wins. One of them or two was controversial with Hopkins and Robin Ried.
THANK GOD SOMEONE SAID IT BEFORE I DID!! Pavlik's supposed 2-3 decent wins are arguably better than Calzaghe's 2-3 decent wins...

He pushes his punches out. Now pushing your punches is bad if you are a weak striker. Pavlik is not. Thats what makes him land and land those power shots often. He is almost night and day of a better fighter than the Pavlik we saw in the Miranda fight. He almost bats a hand away from your face with a short easy jab and the right hand is fired right on the mark. Lockett probably did not even see the puches that hurt him. I do not see Joe lasting 12 rounds as slow as he looked agianst boxing's grandpal.Kelly will do everything you say and I believe he knocks him out between round 5 - 8.

If Taylor can hurt Palvik that the hell do you think Calzaghe will do to him,he will fucking KO him easy.Palvik is just a new Jeff Lacy overratted like hell,Calzaghe will beat Palvik half to death

Palvik wil look like this after the Calzaghe fight

You are a douche bag. Look at the power differnce between Taylor and Calzaghe. Taylor was accually able to hurt Hopkins when hopkins was younger and better. Joe had nothing to hurt him with. The only reason Pavlik got hurt is he stuck his chin out to show off. Showing off is something Calzaghe fans are used to. Sorry but Pavlik is not Robin Ried who probably won that fight with Calzaghe. He is not Omar Sheika , Mario Viet, Toker Pudwill , or Kabery Salem. He is way better. If you think Calzaghe is going to slap Pavlik to a knockout you are crazy. Joe has nothing that will hurt him . Pavlik on the other hand is way stronger , and more busy than Hopkins with the same chin. Pavlik on the other hand could floor Calzaghe with no problem.
And I thought the Hatton fanboys were bad .

The guy is a douche bag because he thinks a guy in the top 5 p4p could beat the dude you have a massive hard-on for? I think Calzaghe - Pavlik would be a pick em fight, I'd lean towards Pavlik, but you could make a good case for Calzaghe as well. You can criticize JC's record, I've done it myself, but here's a news flash for you: Calzaghe is better than Taylor, Miranda, and Lockett - and Pavlik has plently of bums on his padded record as well.

So you would agreer that Pavlik is a Lacy type fighter who would be blown to bits by Caqlfage's great world class power slapping ability. OTFLMAO. He is a Northeast Ohioan like my self and has blown everyone up in front of him. Unlike cutting it close with Hopkins and Ried.

I said nothing about Pavlik being a Lacy-type fighter. In fact, I said I thought Pavlik would win if he fought JC, but calling someone a douche because he disagrees with you and thinks you favorite fighter could actually lose a fight is just stupid. Pavlik has not blown everyone up in front of him, he'd KO'd Taylor, which was impressive, but then he went life and death with him in the rematch. The fight was up for grabs in the 11th and 12th rounds, and in the eyes of most people Pavlik edged it. It was a close fight just like JC-Hopkins, regardless of the styles of the fighters. He was almost stopped in the first fight with Taylor as well, the reason he was almost stopped is immaterial. I really like Pavlik, but I liked him a lot before his fanboys started calling he name from the mountain tops, calling him Godzilla, and comparing him to Hagler and Marciano.

I think America was in desperate need of a fighter like Pavlik though, someone that is young, in exciting fights and humble enough to back.
I'm not ready to bet the mortgage on him, but it's about time there was an American that could generate fanboys to the level of PAC and Hatton.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

Fair enough, I just hate fanboys in all their forms. Drives me nuts.

This to me all depends on what weight its gonna be at. The heavier the better I would think for Joe. Although Kelly may have the frame to move up with ease. I think Pavlik and Joe will trade this would be alot more entertaining than the B-Hop fight. Gotta go with Pavlik's power at this point.

This is ridiculous. You guys can't honestly believe their records are comparable?

Pavlik's THREE best wins are Taylor - middleweight champ. Miranda - failed "world" title challenger and ?? ... There isn't even a 3rd

Calzaghe's best wins... (in no particular order)

    1. Hopkins - Middleweight "great," Lightheavy champ
    2. Eubank - Top 5 best ever supermiddle
    3. Kessler - WBC/WBA UNBEATEN champ
    4. Lacy - IBF UNBEATEN champ
    5. Reid - WBC champ
    6. Brewer - IBF champ
    7. Mitchell - WBA champ
    8. Woodhall - WBC champ

Calzaghe's win over Omar Sheika is on a par with Pavlik's 2nd best ever win.

    Come on boys, get real

Every one you mentioned Pavlik would most likely knockout. Not hanging on to shady split dicisions by the skin of his scrotum like Joe. Sorry but I still think he lost to Hopkins. The Reid and Hopkins should have been loses draws if not loses. Hopkins was a loss.

Although a flawed way of thinking, Calzaghe's best win was against BHop... Kelly's were against JT, who he KO'd once and outboxed second... Oh and JT Beat Joe C's best op. twice... Although flawed it is true...

Yes, extremely flawed reasoning, my friend.

For the argument to hold any weight Calzaghe would have needed to have lost. But as we know.. He won.

All you're left with is - Taylor beat Hopkins. Cazlaghe beat Hopkins. Pavlik beat Taylor. In this scenario, there is no formline that elevates Pavlik above Calzaghe

The calzaghe/reid fight was one of the worst fights i've seen in my life. Punch 2 times then hold, repeat for the rest of the fight. Terrible fight. How you guys thought Reid beat Calzaghe is mind boggling.

I do recall it close enough for a split. If it was such a one sidded affiar it would have been all three cards.

care to explain how you scored the contest to hopkins when calzaghe clearly won in every sane persons opinion

And you keep mentioning the robin reid fight

reid fought the fight of his life that night and was always a very underrated boxer. he took joe out of his gameplan and dictated the pace of the fight for the majority of the rounds yet still JC was able to land big. The very best of fighters come a cropper every so often.

Manny pac has a few losses to nobodys on his CV, Mayweather almost came on the wrong end of a loss to victoriano sosa as did hatton when he fought thaxton.

Yes I do care to. I would score in the favor of Hopkins because he knocked Joe on his ass. He hurt him several times as well. Hopkins looked like he just got done with a brisk jog after the fight. Look at Taylors face , Lockets after 2.5 rounds, Miranda was unreconnizable. I would not score punches (slaps) to the arms and shoulders. I would have deducted a piont of the second low blow. Hopkins was never hurt or even introuble in the fight. Pavlik is longer , faster , throws harder and quicker punches. He throws the same amount as Clazaghe. Thus Pavlik throws twice as many because half of his shit is pitter slaps. I dont even know how someone can like him or be a fan. He is a slapper and he tried to be a canal pal to Hopkins when he got hit in the nutts.
