Yep Penalosa has troubles with quick boxers (specially if they're running away from him) but Mares never been with a boxer in Penalosa's caliber. Penalosa is old but he was still very impressive in his last fight against the tough Sor Vorapin and even stopped/TKO'ed the guy.
This fight reminds me of Genaro Hernandez-Floyd Mayweather. Hernandez had never been dominated and had never lost at 130. Until he met Mayweather. Now Mares ain't no Mayweather. And Penalosa isn't the fighter Hernandez was. But it's the way I see the fight playing out. Mares retiring the old veteran.
BIG i mean HUGE HUGE Step up for Mares. is this a done deal?
Great fight for Mares he is an excellent prospect i've been saying for quite some time that he will be the future of the division just like Devon Alexander will for Jr Welterweright, and Roman Gonzalez for Strawweight. This will be an excellent boxing match both men are excellent counter punchers, but like VD said Mares is younger and fresher and has the speed advantage, so he will be able out speed and out counter Penelose to win a UD IMO.
