Default Gerry "FEARLESS" Peñalosa vs. Abner Mares in the works

Gerry "FEARLESS" Peñalosa vs. Abner Mares in the works possibly as undercard of Casa-Marquez fight. This card is shaping as the most technical card in the making. Peñalosa is a master technician.

Bad fight for Penalosa. I see Mares dominating. To much youth and speed

I can't see Penalosa being dominated. He might lose but not dominated. Penalosa already has 6 losses but all of them via close decisions.

Mares is very smart for how young he is, But Penalosa is a crafty one. As we saw in the Gonzalez fight, Gerry is slow enough to be outboxed nowadays. Mares is an absolute master at finding angles I'd have to say this is a huge step up for Mares, I don't know that he's ready yet honestly, he hasn't been in within anyone that has a plan b and Penalosa always has a plan B.

50/50 on this one for me.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

First time for everything. At this stage in his career a fight with the super quick Mares is a bad idea for Penalosa.

Yep Penalosa has troubles with quick boxers (specially if they're running away from him) but Mares never been with a boxer in Penalosa's caliber. Penalosa is old but he was still very impressive in his last fight against the tough Sor Vorapin and even stopped/TKO'ed the guy.

This fight reminds me of Genaro Hernandez-Floyd Mayweather. Hernandez had never been dominated and had never lost at 130. Until he met Mayweather. Now Mares ain't no Mayweather. And Penalosa isn't the fighter Hernandez was. But it's the way I see the fight playing out. Mares retiring the old veteran.

Mares could be quick but I think Penalosa will find a way to catch him. I see one of Penalosa's combo catching the young kid. Penalosa will not be afraid in attacking Mares as he was not even afraid of power punching Daniel Ponce De Leon.

Great fight for Mares he is an excellent prospect i've been saying for quite some time that he will be the future of the division just like Devon Alexander will for Jr Welterweright, and Roman Gonzalez for Strawweight. This will be an excellent boxing match both men are excellent counter punchers, but like VD said Mares is younger and fresher and has the speed advantage, so he will be able out speed and out counter Penelose to win a UD IMO.

Youth doesn't always equate to a sure win. Example grandpa Campbell schooling the young Juan Diaz...

I never said it did but you cannot compare Campbell vs Diaz to this fight, Diaz is a swarmer which played into Campbell's slick counter punching style, in this case you got two very good counter punchers. Now the winner of the counter punching battle will be the guy who get's his punches off first and whoever's timing is better, now i would say Mares being the younger fresher fighter, he will be able to out speed Penelosa and out counter him using his extra speed and youth. But maybe being the old fox that Penelosa is he may have some tricks up his sleeve to counter that, but still i'll go with Mares he is a very quick sharp counter puncher and i see the young fresher man winning the counter punching battle.

You sure can rely on Penalosa to dig deep when he's being outbox like for example the Jhonny Gonzalez fight. Mares could possibly outbox Penalosa on certain spots but not the whole fight. I can see Penalosa also landing his crisp combos. And would you believe Penalosa has the reach advantage over Mares?
