Are you guys starting to understand now. Hattons name and even Floyd Mayweather's name should never be mentioned with the names of the guys i just mentioned period.
I find it rather odd you'd have Hopkins up there but not Mayweather.
Well Hopkins has accomplished more than mayweather period. Theres still alot left for Mayweather to do but he refuses to do so because he usually prefers the easier fights. The only reason he retired before fighting Oscar is how would it look if he fought Oscar then avoided the winner of Cotto/Margarito ? this guy does not want to fight the best guys in his division he would rather retire. Sorry but the guys on my ATG list also brought alot of heart to the game.
Mayweather is an ATG and belongs in that list you cant deny him because he didn't fight Cotto / Tony you have to look at what he has done his whole career 5 titles in 5 weight divisions gets you on an ATG great list period

I think Hatton will definitely be remembered as a great fighter.. but as far as ATG, i don't know..
a while back i was going to make a thread about this, and never did.. either way, i'm probably going to get flamed for this, but just remember, this is only MY opinion..
After watching the Tszyu fight, after everybody hyped up how good Ricky was that night, and how it was his defining fight and all that stuff, i had mixed feelings.. I mean, he definitely was amazing that night, and was relentless as all hell, but did you see the scoring? I don't remember it exactly but i think at least 1 judge had Tszyu winning, one had it even, and one had Hatton winning, and then Tszyu QUIT!!?? Are you kidding? This leaves a sour feeling simply because Tszyu, with I think Two rounds left, could have won this fight, but he gave up.. Not to take anything away from Ricky because he fought magnificently, but how can you quit if you're winning on a judges scorecard, and even on another.. Granted Tszyu was a P4P fighter, and always in the top tier of boxers of his time, so whether you KO him or beat him by a point you still beat a great fighter, so again not saying Ricky didn't perform great, I just don't see how, besides that fight he did anything to prove his ATG status..
He beat Tackie up.. beat Collazo in a real close fight, beat Maussa, beat Castillo, lost to Floyd, and although he beat Lazcano for about 86% of the fight, he almost got knocked down, and possibly even out, he was holding on for dear life and the ref bailed him out.. my stomach was sick after that fight..
I just think he will be more remembered by how exciting and fearless and relentless he was as opposed to anything else..
Probably not an ATG but Ricky will be remembered for what I think he wants to be remembered for. His balls, great personality, giving his all for his fans EVERY single time and not letting his head get as big as his bank account. No one can deny that the amount of fans he has brought to the sport is huge.
