No doubt about a fight with Abraham; but doesn't Arthur have to fight a mandatory 1st? Kelly has to do something in between; and personally I'd rather see him fight Hopkins than a Williams..... Actually Wright would be the one I would want to see before an Arthur showdown, but who really thinks that will happen?

To be fair I dont think anyone wants to fight HOpkins, don't see why Pavlik would either. If it happens, it'll be because it makes the most financial sense for the promoters and Pavlik will have to go along with it.

This is Arum trying to make Pavlik a cash cow, nothing more.

He knows he will make good money from HBO on this fight. He sees it as if he can get Pavlik to ride BHop's and Calzaghe's financial coattails, Pavlik is then suddenly a Marquee name if he beats them or loses a close fight. He thinks Bernard is shot enough to not beat Pavlik, and I think he is right.

It's "garbage" for Pavlik to fight an opponent who is one of the most accomplished middleweight champs in history, still one of the top 10 PFP fighters in the sport, and who just had a very competitive fight against a guy (Calzaghe) who some think is the #1 PFP fighter in the sport? We all want to see Pavlik fight Abraham, but that won't take place until 2009, because of Abrahams mandatory against Raul Marquez.

Now, Steve Kim just posted that Pavlik vs Hopkins may take the October 11th spot as a PPV, and that Mosley vs Mayorga will take the September 27th date as a regular HBO fight.

It's "garbage" for Pavlik to fight an opponent who is one of the most accomplished middleweight champs in history, still one of the top 10 PFP fighters in the sport, and who just had a very competitive fight against a guy (Calzaghe) who some think is the #1 PFP fighter in the sport? That's garbage?

He proved beyond a shadow of a doubt 3 years ago that he cant hang with young athletic fighter in his prime... So tell me the relevance of this fight again?

The relevance of this fight is that Pavlik needs an opponent for the fall before he eventually fights Abraham in 2009. If someone can come up with an opponent who has more cache than Hopkins, then I'd love to hear it.

For those saying, 'he should fight Abraham!".. well, you're ignoring reality. That fight isn't happening until 2009. Pavlik could take the easy route and fight in the fall against a Lockett-esque stiff. If he's willing instead to risk it in the fall against a cagey accomplished fighter like Hopkins while waiting for Abraham, then more power to him.

So in the meantime he cant go up to 168? there are plenty of decent guys, I mean all joking aside I rather see him fight Carl Froch just because the fight will have some explosive quality to it, but not a old boring, hit and old throwing 5 punches around and 2 are legal type fight... No thank you I rather watch him fight a LIVE opponent not a slipping 45 year old fighter
