you the man booze, tony is the best welterweight. but man im a cotto fan, this is hard to realize.

Now i think a rematch with paul would not be good for paul. if only tony didn't start out so slow he would of finish paul.

Tony is the man, I hope cotto is ok.
Oddly enough...I don't see him as the best welter. I treally believe that he's just one of the strongest...strongest doesn't always equate to the best.

I also don't feel that a Williams rematch is in Margarito's best interest.

    We shall see though.

Truly...I believe that Cotto was just to short for the height/reach/power of Margarito. You have to give the man his due for taking what he has & making it work.

Williams is cut from the same cloth as Margarito as far as advantages go.

There are just some things that one should realize in this game...a reach advantage is as big of an advantage as a power play. If you work off of systematically wearing down your opponant but can't reach him...what good is your power?

    None.

All of your advantages are negated & you end up taking shot after shot after shot...just as valiantly as Cotto did...just as brutally as Margarito dished out.

Again...I gotta leave you with the note...both men (like them or not) came to win & in the end...both men made the bout what it was...boxing's best.

I was impressed with both men & won't forget this one for a bit.

I still can't get over that. What an unbelievable fight. Seriously, will be watching that one for the rest of my life probably. How amazing. We ended up getting the PPV last minute after I showed my dad the countdown show during the Segura fight, was well worth it. Unbelievable, no shame in Cotto's performance. For 8 rounds there he looked like the best fighter in boxing just coming into his own. I can't believe it. Hate to be so cliche, but next time someone says boxing is dead, I might just flip out. Holy shit.

HOLY SHIT Cotto looked destroyed at the end of the fight. i had him up by 1 point going into the 11. Margo won that round 10-7 so Cotto in my view needed to knock Margo out. No Way that was gonna happen with margo's chin. Great fight and i got to say.......Margo is a MONSTER!!!!!!!

You are right Wacko. Great stuff. It takes alot of sacrifice for both parties.

I'm exhausted, everytime Cotto moved to the ropes I was shouting "MOVE FOR FUCKS SAKE" I thought Cotto would win but Tony did himself proud, amazing chin, I mean fuck me, how does he take shots and keep coming like that? I think he has one of the best chins ever. He fought like a Mexican.....what more can I say?

    A rematch would be bliss

first off, full credit to margarito, strong, in shape, great chin, determined.

cotto retreated to the ropes too much early on. also, i would have liked to see him go more to the body, given his opponent has a great chin and is relentless.

the first time i heard his uncle/trainer tell him to get off the ropes was in the 8th. of course, we didn't see everything that happened in the corner but from what we did see his uncle/trainer wasn't emphasizing it until the eighth.

also, his uncle has no inspirational value. it is time to dump him for a world class trainer.

we need margarito-pretty boy. if floyd doesn't come back for this then fuck him big time, even bigger than before, the great-boxer-but-total-tasteless-punk.

how about margarito pavlik; too bad pavlik is going up in weight to fight hopkins, a meaningless fight in terms of sorting out the non-has beens.

i find lampley and kellerman melodramatic. when you have a great fight, you don't need some chumps telling you every two minutes that it's a great fight. also it bothers me that they start talking about other fights, boxing in general, etc., in the middle of the action.

keep steward and bring in a boxer like RJJ or Tyson and keep lampley on a tight leash and dump all the rest.

I know Cotto will come back from this, I have no doubt about that, it was only 1 loss, so I am not disappointed in him at all. He dominated in all the punching categories, but I just wish he would have stayed away from the ropes, that is where he kept getting caught.

It was a great fight, and that's all I could hope for.
Respect Diane,He will def be back.So much Improvment on Skillset & boxing and extreme heart by Cotto.Miguel is to be respected to the fullest. It was the size strength For Tony and mentality Imo,great fight by both friend!
Respect right back, like I told you, I like both fighters, so I am happy for Margarito, and of course I'm sad for Cotto, they both fought great, and I can't take anything away from either fighter. They both deserve respect, and props for this fight.

I just hope that some on here give credit to both fighters like they should, and don't ruin a great fight by acting like an ass, and cutting down a great fighter.

That is mind numbing someone thinks Judah would knock out Margarito. Judah would get beaten like an unruly child in sunday school.

what the hell happened? i had it until the 5th/6th round n then a got distratced by some silly little girl, im abit to mashed to go looking through all the threads...did cotto stay on the ropes n get tagged?? he looked so in control while i was watching...abit dissapointed with his body attack...diane said above that tony had his arms down there but unless im just overly drunk he didnt even seem to try? he seemed to throw a punch that knocked tony's head back a little n he could have got a punch to the midsection during those times but i dont know, booze is booze, ill watch again 2moro. i cant believe i missed what happened...tony is a tough sob. i dno if people are saying mayweather should fight him, but i still think the pretty boy could have seen this fight n would not stay on the ropes as long as cotto did occassionally, he wasnt there for ages but he stayed there a while winning or not winning in the early rounds. clottey beats zab n we have a rematch?? lets see if it was actually the hands that beat margo!!!...im drunk

Whoa!!! I can't believe he really pulled it off! I'm a Margarito fan, and I have to admit, I was doubting him for the first half of that fight. He just looked too slow and inaccurate and Cotto was taking him to school. Tony has got to be the toughest SOB in any division though. He is frigging unstoppable. He should change his nickname from the Tornado to the brick wall. Anyways, much respect to Cotto, he put on a great show and has nothing to be ashamed of. I actually felt bad for him, seeing him beat up like that.

PS- Floyd don't want no part of either one of these guys!

Firstly, what a great fight. In many ways it's what Hatton Mayweather could have been, but Margarito's stamina is what made the difference. He was immense. Cotto impressed me with his skills and defense, but his legs let him down late in the fight. At about round 6 I thought it would be a demolition by Cotto, but Margarito re-grouped very well and deserved the outcome.

Secondly, I can see the unwillingness of people to give Margarito respect before this fight and in many ways, rightly so. One or two blemishes on a record are understandable, but 5 defeats in 35 fights is alot and there have always been these questionmarks about his quality because of this. His defeat to Williams did nothing to dispell those doubts.

What Margarito has shown is that although careers are short, fighters go through spells of form just like any other athletes. Careers are not over because you have lost and you can still be great, the defeats may even make you better.

Alot of fighters can learn from these two guys. Both were willing to fight anyone who was infront of them and that is what this game needs more than anything, less politics, more good fights.

No left hooks to the body?

I think not being able to discourage Margarito discouraged him.
He couldn't get to the body, when you watch it again, you'll see that Margarito kept his arm there all night, making it difficult for him to hit to the body.
You fellars & fellerettes had to be watchin sumfin else...Cotto was going to the body & did everything right...as always...the issue is that Margarito pulled the same shots outta the bag as Miguel.

The better man just go the better of the other man tonight.

The terminator got terminated...heck of a beautiful thing that one was. No ifs, ands, or buts on that one...you gotta handle it & move on...which is exactly what I hope Cotto can do...but it's gotta be devastating as hell.
