This is what sparked that btw. Notice how he slams Bolt for being selfless and not running a 9.50 (which is ridiculous, he wouldn't have run that) yet ignores the fact that Bolt said the WR didn't matter to him and he just wanted to win which was the source of his excitement. So he's selfish for running against his competitors and not himself, OK, good logic. Then of course the mandatory praise of the British gold medalist kicks in just the third paragraph and the true intentions of the piece are revealed, to prop British athletes above all others. How boring.
He is a former Olympic medal winner Kriss Akabusi - not a writer.

The Guardian is a Brit publication. Akabusi is a Brit. You find it surprising he is lauding British medal winners?

I don't understand his problem with Bolt...maybe he had cash on him to break the world record? Someone in that situation may have got agitated watching Bolt ease down
Kriss Akabusi...I remember him, funny guy!

In response to Amat's perceptions regarding UK columnists, well, I suppose you are probably right, especially concerning the papers you highlighted. But I would imagine it is the same over regarding journalism of a tabloid nature. Its certainly the case here in Korea too.

He must have lost his sense of humour.

I understand what amat means too.

On many occasions i've found American boxing writers very annoying (so much so that I only read Thomas Hauser). I always detect a very condescending attitude towards ANYONE that doesn't ply their trade in the States.

But.. maybe i'm looking for that?
