Everyone and sadly this means everyone has the right to thier own opinion, what race, the state thier from, what color underwear a boxer wears has absolutly nothing to do with anything. There are certian places that produce more than others but to bring that up in a boxing disucussion always is a tactic of someone who "A" spends to much time on myspace or "B" has limited boxing knowledge to argue a point like an adult. Not pointing fingers at anyone cause i stopped reading when the discussion got away from boxing but just my opinion. How can someone be wrong about a fight that hasn't even been made and hell has a chance of not even happening. Joe could catch pavlik in the first 30 seconds of the first round for all we know and Ko him cold, nothing is impossible....unlikely but not impossible everyone has a right to thier own belief no matter how wrong they may seem. Wanna prove em wrong bet money, sig, anything but calling names and net bangin only proves....well you know. Now here's my opnion back to the topic of boxing, i see it as a mosquito against a bear, the mosquito could stay outside irritatingly stinging for 12 rounds and win but if the bear catches him, it could be good night real quick. I'd pick pavlik by KO myself but who knows.....i did smoke a morning bowl earlier.

Anyone claiming Pavlik beats Calzaghe in the chin department is having a laugh.

Forget the fact that Calzaghe has fought by far the stronger competition, and forget the flash knockdowns both have suffered, name ONE time Calzaghe has been turned into a DRUNK staggering all over the ring not knowing how to use his legs?

Taylor was close to stopping Pavlik.

In fact, some refs would have jumped in to SAVE him from a further bashing.

Calzaghe hasn't EVER been close to getting stopped. Fact.

If Calzaghe took that many shots he would have been out allot earlier.

Pavlik has a good set of whiskers, not great whiskers. Joe has a good set of whiskers, not great though.

Does Pavlik have enough power to knock out Joe? I would say yes. Pavlik has left behind him a number of guys who were never down in there career until they got in the ring with him. If he landed enough on Joe, Joe would probably go also.

The question is, can Pavlik land bombs on Joe with enough consistancy where Joe would fall? I say no. Joe has great stamina and Pavlik usually pounces on guys who cannot maintain his pace. Pavlik is not a one punch puncher, he beats guys up bad enough so they cannot take it anymore. This is why he can knock out guys that other big punchers cannot.

Against Joe, Pavlik will be in the ring with someone who can match his pace and not get cornered as much. Pavlik has enough offense and Power though that he can outpoint Joe, simply by staying busy and not slowing down. Joe will not rush in on him much, as Pavlik can land accurate sneaky punches much better than anyone will ever give him credit for. He will have to be careful though and find his range as he has looked out of sync in the only other fight I have seen him in against a southpaw.

His lack of opposition against Southpaws, could very well cost him.

Good post. For me, Calzaghe - Pavlik would be a pick 'em fight. I'd lean towards Pavlik because Calzaghe is getting on in years, but it's by no means a sure thing.

Calzaghe has NEVER been in a situation of being battered, dominated and bashed all over the ring.

Calzaghe may have felt the initial blow BUT would have most definitely slipped the rest.

That's what makes him a far SUPERIOR pugilist to the likes of Pavlik.
