Monte's record in his last 6 fights is 3-3
Not exactly a prime Tyson or Lewis is it?
Like I said, dont get too hyped about this, this is a testing the waters fight, and in all honesty I think its a good idea to do it that way.
but loosing two fights on the trot can effect a fight mentally and i believe that he was in a negative state of mind going into that fight. again as i said it was a one off fight and he proved that in the rematch didnt he ? Tye fields was still working up the ranks and to get a big guy like him out in the first round was good for Barrett, a real good confidence booster IMO. He struggles against bigger fighters ie wlad and valuev, he lost to rahman due to the fact he was his mate and couldnt really get skyed for the fight. he lost to whittaker and mesi in close fights. couser is the only fight that he shouldnt have lost at all, but he wronged that loss and hes back on track now.

hes got bottle stepping in with haye on his home ground and i respect that.
Sorry,if your a top flight fighter, you dont get sparked in whats supposed to be a tune up fight against a professional tomato can. Heck Golata came out retirement and sparked a similar fighter in Bates.
Barrett is a career also ran, sort of like Fres Oquendo.
Face it the Beck win was 3 years ago,and Beck hasnt exactly tore up the division since then.
Its a good fight for Haye to get a feel for the division, but thats all it is

okay i appreciate your point. but all i have to say is he righted that wrong though? its not like hes coming off the loss to couser and going straight into the haye fight though, hes avenged the loss in quick sensation and coming off a first round win in the hands of tye fields. Haye could have found a worse oppanent but hes not, Barrett has a name in the heavyweight ranks and thats all that matters for haye

Oh dont get me wrong,I think Barrett's a good choice,he still has name recognition,he hasnt fought well lately, and it gives Haye a chance to get his feet wet at heavyweight.
Im just saying, dont make it in to a clash of the Titans. I mean Barrett has a punchers chance, but thats about all he has.
And Haye finally had to fight somebody, between one guy pulling out,and Chapman's manager not bothering to mention the fight to Chapman,it had been 110& Snafu before this

This is a far cry from "Give me Wladdy." But I suppose he is a solid enough test for a HW moving up.

My man Lyakhovich would have been a much better fight personally, but Haye will look good while still leaving us waiting to see if He can mix it up with the big boys.

Depending on where Lyakovich's weight is right now, that would be much more dangerous fight right now,he's got suprising hand speed for a heavy, oddly enough I was dubbing my copy of Lyakovich Brewster on to DVD last night

In my opinion Lyakhovich has been handled pretty poorly and then when he did have the chance to recitify himself........he stunk out the place in the shittiest HW fight of all time (and that is impressive).

After Haye fights Barrett we still will not no whether he can even compete with top opposition at HW. That is a question SL would have answered.

This is ok, I don't know how much Barrett really has anymore but its better than Chapman. Really if Haye had just not talked it up so much then this would seem like a pretty good first fight after a move up, no need to raise expectations too much.

I agree. But he created the criticism he is getting now. But if I was smashup I would be excited. Barrett actually has the potential to bang for awhile and have the stamina to make a real bout of it.
