Was Mosley even 50% of what he was against Cotto?

Anyone who judges SSM on last nights fight is blind IMO.

Styles do make fights and even a middling boxer takes Mayorga to school. If you didnt see Shane totally neglect his jab and just try and bomb everything you must be blind

Maybe Shane just cannot box and move anymore.

Did he neglect his jab in the 10th, 11th, and 12th, particularly the 11th when he snapped Mayorga's head back several times and stopped him in his tracks a couple more times.

Mosley has a unique style. He's boxer-puncher, but not a boxer-puncher in the typical mould, like an Arguello, a Pavlik, a Forrest. He's part brawler, but unlike most brawlers, he has defense and counters extremely well. He adapts during fights.

Mosley is who is he is. He hasn't been a "box and move" fighter for almost 10 years.

Shane has/had superb footwork maybe his legs have gone and thats the reason he stands and trades more.

I dont think he was standing too much vs Collazo and Vargas the 2nd time and they were only a couple of fights agao . I just think its a case of horses for courses. Mayorga weighed 10lbs more than him and he wanted a K.O . Props to him for fighting the way he did.

At Shanes time of life, expereriance takes over Technique, plus He showed a big pair of Balls in there and Focus Mayorga style wise was a Nightmare.

His footwork is slower, for sure, but he still has great balance. That allows him to stand and trade with guys like Mayorga, make Mayorga miss, and land meaningful, crisp counters. He stays right in the pocket. He has to chose his spots for movement more, of course the legs have slowed. One problem that he had with Cotto is that Cotto keeps great balance in the pocket trading, so he was able it hit Shane in those exchanges and also make Shane miss. That's why Shane had to adjust strategy and it won him a bunch of middle round, until Cotto made is own adjustments. It was a prettier fight to watch because both guys are sound technical fighters and good thinkers in the ring. A young Mosley would have won that fight - look how close old Mosley came!

Mayorga on the other hand, is totally off balance, so it made sense for Shane to stay in the pocket, block, slip, and counter, because you know that Mayorga will always be open at the end of his combos because he's so off-balance and fundamentally unsound. Mosley would have been playing to Mayorga's advantage to be on his bike the whole time. Staying in the pocket and backing Mayorga up with counters won him the fight. It wasn't as pretty and it make Mosley look like an older fighter, but it was the right way to fight Mayorga. That's basically how Oscar took care of him, but Oscar is bigger, has a much better jab, and he has better one shot power. So it happened faster. Same result.
