And secondly im not even Joe Calzaghe fan so you can stop calling me a fan boy, the fact is Joe Calzaghe forced a much higher tempo fight based on Joe Calzaghe being more skilled fighter. Joe Calzaghe used angles and has much faster handspeed than Kelly Pavlik, much faster footwork, and better variety of punches, basically a much better all round fighter than Kelly Pavlik
Plus Joe Calzaghe threw 707 punches and Kelly Pavlik only threw 463, and amazingly Bernard Hopkins had a higher workrate against Kelly Pavlik, do you see what people are saying now ? Kelly Pavlik fought Bernard Hopkins slow pace kind of a fight never forcing him to work.
Where as Joe Calzaghe forced Bernard Hopkins too work much more, and disrupted Bernard Hopkins rhythm and trapped him on the ropes. Something Kelly Pavlik could never do in the entire fight, all your trying to do is try and discredit and take away Joe Calzaghe's win over Bernard Hopkins.
This nonsense about Bernard Hopkins radically training completely different is complete nonsese. Bernard Hopkins has never ever come into a fight not completely 100 percent, except for the fight with Segundo Mercado, because like i said he didn't get properly climatized to the high altitude. And Bernard Hopkins himself never made that excuse he wasn't 100 percent against Joe Calzaghe so why should you ?
When did you see me say his body VISUALLY LOOKED in better shape?
I said it was obvious his body was in better condition. You, having done amateur boxing, should know how many grounds that covers more than ANYONE. When I said he looked in much better condition, i don't mean visually. I mean the fact that he was able to work harder for longer. I've only been disputing his cardio, not how he looked, so how could you even confuse the two?!
And again, where did you see me say Bernard trained completely different? Stop putting words in my mouth. I've always seen the point people are trying to make from Calzaghe to Pavlik, but people are entirely missing MINE. Regardless of how many punches Joe through, with zero conviction, the pace was still much slower on Hopkins part and he didn't tire, it's that simple.
I'm currently training to turn pro and making the transition very soon, and I'll be the first to say that my training doesn't need to change for me to feel god awful one day then like god the next.
I can cover a ton of ground one day, then hardly any another. That's how the body works. I never took anything from Calzaghe, I just tossed another perspective up there for the OP - one that many of you can't seem to grasp. You included, and no.. that's not sarcasm. I'm a very literal guy, I don't candy coat anything I say so don't assume I'm being sarcastic with you.
