So winning a world title doesn't make you world class? Interesting.
What exactly does make someone world class then?

I thought Sam Peter, being a former WBC champion, fighting Wlad Klitschko, Vitali, Toney, Maskaev etc.. made him world class?
Likewise with Lacy being IBF champion.
Obviously i'm wrong.
What is/was their standing in boxing then?

Did anyone else laugh at this? haha
Um, this is ridiculous. If course Sam Peter is a world class heavyweight. What is the definition of world class? Someone who can compete on an international level with the best in the world. Obviously Peter can and has despite coming up dreadfully short against Vitali.
Calzaghe's legacy, well he's obviously one of the greats of the generation but if you want to compare it to Hopkins' and Jones, I'd say he falls short of both. He might have had better wins then Jones but never had the type of showstopping skill that makes Jones one of the greatest fighters of all time. Jones had what maybe nobody ever did, can't fault Joe for that.
Hopkins fought in a better division and lasted until his 40's! And he didn't do it just fighting in his backyard.
Also, I think the Lacy victory was the most significant Joe ever had. It was the only fight he was ever an underdog in as a champ and it was his best performance ever. To say the Lacy victory meant nothing is bullshit and just revisionist history.
