As I got older I became friends with fighters Floyd Patterson was my first regular boxing pal he lived not too far from my Uncle and I ran into him often as a kid and he would talk to me sometimes for an hour or two until we became on a first name basis...Then I wanted to know everything about him and would read books etc....

So I am just curious on what it is about the sport that keeps you coming back for more...Be it just the violence or be it you are just a fanatic
now who is stupid? if you're a fan, boxing analyst, a boxing freak, or a guy who has a fighther friend that thinks he already knew boxing or whatever you wanna call yourself then shame on you.if you really knew and understand the sport and business of boxing these thread wont pop up into your mind. you wanna know what i think about you? you just wanna be there, when you don't belong. A$$WIPE, you just keep on proving that you have the mental capacity of an 8 year old.

This is the second time you've disrespected Daxx, big mistake!!!

His knowledge of boxing is something you will only be able to dream about.

The level of respect he gets from those that know him, is something you will never achieve in a lifetime.

Go to your room, you're grounded!!! Get your teddy bear, and go curl up in your Manny Pacquiao blanket.

Every second of every round of the fights...
When they walk to the ring...
    When the bell sounds...
When I would hear "De La Zona Norteeeeeeeeeeeeee" and I would yell it out loud myself.
When I hear "Manos De Piedraaaaaaaa" Duraaaaaan.
When I hear "El Flaco Explosivooooooo" Arguellooooo.

When I'm sitting getting ready to watch a decent matchup on Showtime and I'm there by myself I go grab a drink and something to munch on just casually and I witness Brewster-Lyakhovic.

Or when I'm tunning in to see Wladdy rack up another win then suddenly the ref. is waiving off the fight and Sanders is allover the ring pumpin his fists.

When I was at the door of my grandpas house charging $5 dlls. during JCCs fights in the early 90's and watching him put on master pieces of fights.

When I see I fight that's taking place and I have the opp. to be ringside and witness something I always thought of doing as kid.

I can be here all night...

I was able to witness this one live!!!! It was my first live fight, because we don't get $hit here in Ohio. Boy, did I get lucky with this one!!! We were all cheering, and standing on our feet for most of the fight. It was great!!

-I love fights where there are shifts in momentum: Gatti vs Ward I, Barrera vs Morales trilogy, Pacquiao vs Marquez II, Pavlik vs Taylor I, etc. (Using somewhat recent examples). Just because they make you realize when two fighters have a certain chemistry, anything can happen!

-Watching your favorite figher's hand raised at the end of a match.

-The second someone gets caught with a big punch or gets knocked down. Most importantly, the roar of the crowd when something big happens. I miss that the most about playing college ball =*(.

-The pride of one's country. Sometimes it can get annoying but for the most part, it makes you that much more proud to be that nationality.

-Most of all! ESPECIALLY for a fight you've been anticipating!! The moments right before the opening bell rings and the sensation of throwing up then BAM! You're locked in and forget about everything else in life but the fight you're watching. PRICELESS...

    My favorite part of boxing....

When it's a big PPV fight, and the national anthem ends, and the crowd roars, and then there's about a 5-10 second pause.... and then you hear Jim Lampley say, "TALE OF THE TAPE...."

I LOVE that moment, it never ever gets old. After all the hype and all the talk, at that moment you know the fighters are finally about to walk to the ring and face off.

That's my favorite moment whenever I tune in to watch a big fight.

    Wait for it...

In the Pavlik-Hopkins undecard for the VERY 1st fight between Jacobs & Watson.

The 1st words out of Stewards mouth about 15 seconds into it he says.

The thing with Jacobs is hes got a solid amateur background.
I couldn't help it but laugh and think of SweetPea.

Mick, I've heard rumblings of a Luevano-Juarez fight in the near future, and I'm very VERY excited about that matchup, because it might cause Steward to blow away his previous record for mentioning solid amateur backgrounds.

If that fight goes 12 rounds, Steward might mention their solid amateur backgrounds over 100 times easily.

Nothing makes you feel the way boxing does when you see a great fight in the calibre of Gatti-Ward, Barrera-Morales, Corrales-Castillo and so on. When the hairs on the back of your neck stand up because of the amazing entertainment on display it is an amazing feeling.

Also for me when one of your favourite fighters does something special that sticks in your mind, like for me when Jones fought Toney for example, he took a move from one of his game cocks and when Toney tried copying it he caught him with that left hand and sent him reeling across the ring which resulted in the knockdown!

Excuse the writing at the beginning I wouldn't quite call it a devastating knockdown. Just a classy one.

I like the fact that anything can happen at anytime. one mistake and the your lights could go out. Also i like the when the will and heart of the underdog takes the fighter to a win.

Boxing is an imposable sport to get the stink of it off you. I had my first boxing lesson 30 years ago, and follow the sport, and participate in the sport like its religion. When I tried this past year to quit the sport,I only ended up more deeply involved in it.
I tried to quit, now this weekend I'll be in negotiations to buy a breakdown ring so we can do more traveling promotions.
I often rue the fact, that one of the things Im best at in life is inflicting GBH on my fellow man,I was supposed to go to art college and I spend my entire life, one mis placed word away from having to explain why the SOB was asking for it to Mr Policeman

The fighters and trainers. Also judges and referees. Other than that, forget about it. Others on the periphery of this great sport give "scum" new meaning.

I know I'm gonna get crap for this, but I even enjoy trying to follow the alphabet titles, it's like this very complicated story line, that changes on a daily basis.

Lastly it gives something for me to talk about with my good friends at Saddo's
Pretty much my own thinking only to add that what both Sugar Ray & Marvin Hagler was doing in the 80s added a lot of influence to the first time I went to a boxing gym at 8 yrs old & they put me into sparr with a kid half my size who had apparently been going there a while & he kicked 7 shades of s&&t out of me..

& as a young kid I was baffled as to what happend, & then it was the point of learning to control ya fears ... & that sometimes the fear of being hurt is worse than the pain suffered...& understanding that

Its that whole having to face whats essentially you ... & there is no where to hide when between the ropes...

For me personally the greatest opponent you ever have to master is yourself & I believe in doing that you become a better fighter for fighting with & undestanding your fears...
