I started out in a Tyson like stance, because I watched too much Tyson fights. Through the years I switched more and more to a side on stance. It puts the shoulder in line to help with defense, and frees the front (left in my case) arm for offensive purposes.

thats a good point RDJ you definitely are influenced by watching your fave boxers and my defence is a lot tighter in side on, think i was watching a lot of pro boxing and that is a different game than amature

Last time I went to the gym, a new trainer had me standing more straight on.
That's about 5 different stances I've been taught now.
