I used to be a clean freak. Now am a total slob.

I'm thinking that shrink I had to see back in grade 5 considers it progress?

Both my study and my bedroom got trashed for the month or so before exams, they are becoming progressively cleaner at the moment though. My shaving gear is all over the bathroom counter, although when I had to share it wasn't. When it comes to my own personal area it's messy, but I try to keep it reasonabl-ish in combined living areas.
Yeah I'm not a neat freak - I think I'm similar to you actually.

The kitchen and food mess I'm a neat freak with but i tend to accumulate study materials and clutter that is not unhygeinic or smelly.

I always try to keep it to my own room or space as much as possible though and it is an effort.

I think the fact i make that effort with a flatmate is why i hate having an overly grotty flatmate who will leave food mess lying around irritates me so much.

I'm careful to be considerate and i think it's not unfair to expect it to be returned.

In general i think having flatmates has probably been good for me because i'm beginning to become a clean person even though it's not natural for me and i'd probably be lost in a pile of clothes and loose sheets of paper permanently if i'd only lived alone.

Exactly it's juts common decency, although we would only do dishes every second or third day. I despise doing dishes, I can not think of anything worst. That is why I love dishwashers, too bad you can't put everything in them though

Next year will be a test though 4 blokes in one house, all in uni. I'm hoping one of the girlfriends likes to clean when they come up and stay

A bit of both,I dont mind clutter, but I do mind disgusting crap.
    A few CD's scattered around the computer,no problem,a sink full of dishes,uggh.
Mind you,my vinyl collection is kept in meticulous order, but alot of that is,if I dont keep things just so,I cant find a damned thing

Well im not a neat freak but i like to keep myself clean/fresh everyday, i have a shower everyday, and i don't like an untidy house. I always do a bit of cleaning twice a week. I never used to be bothered when i was younger, i guess thats something i've learnt to appreciate.

I'm very similar to you, I think.

I know quite a few people, who are more concerned and take better care of their own things and area than with the things you share with others. I've always been completely different - I dont mind my own things being a bit messy, but combined living areas etc, I'll do my best.

But to Sharla, yeah, absolutely I think that - as a general rule - girls care more about these things than guys. However, most guys dont mind trying, and most guys can accept you making comments too. Girls, to my experience, tend to take 'constructive criticism' much more personal. So in terms of dynamics, a guy might be a better (or as good a) choice.

Maybe it comes down to whether you are one of those girls who appreciate the effort, even if it is not enough, or you really get consistently annoyed when things (again) arent up to standards? (Thats not to critisize if you are - just something I think you should ask yourself).

My place is nice and clean but that's entirely in spite of me, not because of me. If people didn't clean up after me it would be phenomenally scruffy and I wouldn't care less about it. I could go years without bothering to clean anything. Decades possibly. Luckily I've never had to find out how long I'd actually go before cleaning up after myself but I'm sure I'd be world class in terms of potential scruffiness.

It depends on the room, my kitchen you could eat off the floor, never any dishes in the sink, cabinets are all neat and organized, food is all neat and organized as well. The bedroom is really clean too, we make the bed after getting up in the morning. My living room ironically is a mess, always a bunch of projects started, video game controllers, homework, work work and the like all over the place. That only get's cleaned on weekends or when we have company.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

I'm not grotty at all. My room is tidy as is my appearance.

I also like to wear designer clothes.

I don't mind a mess I made but if someone else makes a mess I become furious.

I would say that I am "clean" but cluttered. My house is not dirty but it is unorganized. Books shoved under the couch for safe keeping. Pencils tucked away here and there incase I need one. Lot's of notebooks filled with wish lists, top ten's and, of course, prediction scores.

The dishes are kept done and their isn't dirty laundry lying around the house. No shoes are worn in the house. No empty soda cans or candy wrappers about the home.

My bedroom closet is overflowing with Captain America comic books but they are all dust free.

Pretty typical way of living, my man. I think that sums up the majority of us.

I always feel uncomfortable in a home that looks like a museum. It should look like someone lives there at least.

I am not a fan of poor lighting. I don't mind darkness but lights should be there when you need them.

Women do it because they're genetically designed to do it, being closer to the ground and everything. It's something they're just born with the ability to do, like knitting. And working on supermarket checkouts. They used to be able to press all the buttons on the tills really quick because they have smaller more nimble fingers than men, again something their chromosomes gave them the ability to do. But now we invented scanners for them to use so they don't need to punch all the prices into a till anymore. Manly technology made their jobs much easier, bless them.
