You should watch more of his fights and then make up your mind. He had the quick powerful combinations that had dismantled some of his opponents in beautiful fashion. He also fought tough and strong fighters, consider Machen, Ingomar, Bonevena, Chuvalo, no push overs. He paid his dues. I think he was legitamate champion, and not a terrible one in the least.

Now take some guys like Shannon Briggs, Saltan, and a lot of the guys mentioned who's been spinning the alphabet roulette wheel and you have just another fighter with a belt.

Actually, I saw him mug Darrin Van Horn in NYC for a championship. Brutal stoppoga of the "School Boy."

Loved that KO.Van horn and his father were "making a mess" in the ring before the opening bell.I like Barkley...more than just a mean scowl and attitude but Hearns was as high as it got.Great scraps with Olajide ,Benn,Castenada among others.

I always felt his whole career was based on his wins over Tommy...If he never fought Hearns there is a chance Barkley would hardly be mentioned at all.....

There have been worse champion I agree But it is just IMO on him.....Worst title holder ever not by far...just one that came to mind quickly
