What also makes me think that is true sociopaths are only able to mimic emotions. They can't really care about anything but themselves. When Deb was kidnapped by his brother he really cared. And when Camilla was sick in the hospital he really cared. He may not have completely understood all the machinations behind wanting to die, but then again, he's never had cancer. You or I might have felt the same as him. If he were truly indifferent he wouldn't have put himself at risk to kill her.

So I watched the final episode of the season tonight. Man I think this season was better than the second one. I thought they wrapped it up nicely. I can't wait til next season already. What did the rest of you think of it?
Maybe the Sopranos has got me spoiled, but I don't like these neatly wrapped up season finales. I'm just as disappointed in this one as I was the last one. It was just too... quick. Like they were rushing through it. This one was better than the last in that Dexter's fiancee has a secret that IS going to come back and bite her in the butt, but the whole skinner thing was much too well kempt in the end. All these times they come close and keep missing him and as soon as he catches Dexter, Dexter escapes and kills him? So the skinner knew how to tie everyone down until that day? Part of the problem is they make Dexter the center of everything. The side story between Debra and that dude was so weak. Now her looking into the CI her father was banging is interesting because it was Dexter's mother, but they left us with no clue where that might lead. I really like the show, but there is so much more they could be doing with it.
Oops
Yeah I agree completely about the rushed feel to the last episode. After spending an entire season with the skinner running as a main plot line to the big showdown last all of 8 minutes or so was really disappointing.
Still a great show, can't wait for the next season, I just wish we would have had an entire episode with Dexter being held by the skinner and the pyschological games that would have gone on between captor and prisoner.
When you consider how well they did the second series finale with Dokes being held captive for ages by Dexter this was poor.
It's worth noting that one of the main screenwriters left the show after the second series concluded and I have to say I have definitely notices a deterioration in the quality this time around.
