Solis should be damned good, but only question is how old is he really. Cuban athletes are notorious for fudging a few years off their age

I agree I was also really surprised at Ortiz being made prospect of the year, I think he has had a couple years beforehand that rank better then is 2008 where he really hasn't done much at all in the way of stepping up.
I think it's Dirrell who has had the best year of any prospect especially considering people thought he had blown his shot completely after his fight with Curtis Stevens where people were asking to never put him on TV again.
You mean guys like Teofilo Stevenson and Felix Savon? They weren't that great?
Did they beat the greatest fighters of their times?? NOOOOOOOOO they were 30 year old men fighting teenagers in the Olympics and Goodwill games!
When they did have pro heavyweight prospects they haven't amounted to much is all I was trying to say... Juan Carlos Gomez?!?!? BAH
He was a light heavyweight lol, Teofilo was considered an equal to Ali by many, and was a great fighter for sure, it was pretty easy to see great size, speed, power.
Felix Savon even though he was fighting guys, one punched guys like David Tua and Lamont Brewster. Who does that?

Yes but those guys also lost AMATEUR bouts Savon lost to Ruslan Chagaev TWICE
You know nothing, honestly watch him in his prime. He had 362 fights and lost 21 of them.
He beat Golota, Mercer, Briggs, Kirk Johnson, David Tua(one punch KO, he was 24), Brewster, Krasniqi, Solis, Chagaev, Ibragimov, Michael Benett. ALl in all he was a great heavyweight who would have rocked a lot of the best heavyweights in the 90's.
