afraid so here is Team Palles respons to the Johnson fight: (Translated by google)

Palle: Mikkel U.S. combat is dead

    -------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------
The economy is in tatters around the world - not least in the U.S., and therefore call Mogens Palle possibility of a fight against Glen Johnson dead.

Wish scenario is the fight between Dane Mikkel Kessler and Mads Larsen, who sporten.dk revealed Mogens Palle is far in the works

At the same time, it is now obvious that Plan B with a match in the United States against Glen Johnson is dead.

    - I can not imagine anything other than that the fight is dead. We have interrogated us, but they will not even pay half a million U.S. dollars in its entirety to get Mikkel over, and before all expenses are covered, so there is nothing left. The question is whether Mikkel ambitions to come to the United States are so great that he is totally indifferent to money. I think so , "said Mogens Palle to sporten.dk.

The financial crisis raging, there is no money anywhere, and its felt in the boxing world.

    - There is no money and the money that Mikkel got to meet Joe Calzaghe, they not to be found anywhere, "said Mogens Palle.

Instead Team Palle is working on the Kessler-Larsen-bang, as Palle hopes to run in April.

Is Kess going to get $500,000 for fighting Larsen? I find that hard to believe.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

No that offer was for the Johnson fight, I would guess that a fight against Larsen would be around 2-3 million $

He will get that easily. Chances are the fight (if it happens) will be held in Parken, Denmark's national football stadium (Kessler has fought there vs. Beyer and Andrade before, plus on the Tyson-Nielsen undercard). That gives you a potential 40k attendance - not quite sure how many they usually sit for boxing matches, but it will probably be at least 25k.

With an average ticket price of 100$ (best tickets will be more expensive, most tickets maybe slightly cheaper) that gives you a gate of $2.5m. Then add tv to that and there should be more than enough room for a 500k paycheck for Kessler.

I still think it is a bad fight for him, in the long run also financially, as it will do nothing for his profile outside Denmark. But... it will be more fun than seeing him against the likes of Sartison and Haussler.

Sauerland Event has apparently faxed Kessler an offer of 7m Danish kroner for the Larsen fight (see: Sauerland: 7 mio. til Kessler for Larsen-kamp | TV 2 SPORT).

That is about $1.25m or £850k by today's exchange rates.

Well, it is all about money and although it would be a very good scrap, the names arent household and wont generate alot of interest to casual sports fans.

I often wonder how English football players can get what they get, hundred grand a week!! Where does all that cash come from?

Man City are looking to buy that Kaka fella for £107,000,000 and pay him £500,000 a week.

Now that is what I call completely fucking crazy money, it's just total madness!
