Yeah he needs the fight to be a hard one to gain any credit from it. It's like if Calzaghe had done to Kessler what he did to Lacy, he wouldn't have got much credit for it. Kessler would have just been over-hyped so a tough win for Khan is the best thing for him. A blow out might land him a world title shot before he is ready as well. Maybe his chin will never be ready.

Khan wouldn't be given credit if he was fighting Barrera, Jesus and the KFC Colonel at the same time and still won.. honestly, I think he will always be hated on. Part of the reason is probably due to Frank Warren, I mean Hatton was also labelled a 'protected fighter' for a while when he was with Warren.. maybe Khan would do better to sign with a different promoter, e.g golden boy.

I always thought that there was always an underlying racial or ethnic aspect that everyone is afraid to bring to the surface. BUt I dont live there so I couldnt say.

I don't know why people (mainly non-Brits) keep saying that, I really don't.

Fair play. Maybe I am justmore cynical than most. That is good if it is not the case.

I think the lack of support for Kahn has fuck allto do with his muslim roots, its more due to the fact he has done fuck all and has it all at the age of 22 and the fact he thinks he can beat everyone in the world,i dont mind him that much i read his book and in truth comes across very humble guy.

For example most thought that De La Hoya was going to beat Pac-Man but when he lost it was not a case of Pac-man being good rather ODLH being bad.

Same thing happened with Calzaghe-Lacy and Hatton-Tsyu.

Seems to me that a lot of so called experts dont like it when the pick the wrong result and have to make excuses for it.

So after the fight tonight I just hope that the winner gets the credit he deservers.
If Con wins it's cuz Barrera is completely shot. Or the fix was in. Your choice.

That's one of my main gripes. Everything handed on a plate, hyped up to buggery then he gets KO'ed, has a piss easy fight and gets Barrera, the winner to fight for a world title probably.

We have guys that could do a lot better if they were lucky enough to get such exposure as Khan has had. On top of that he still thinks he is the shit! Hope the chinny bastard gets shown up in brutal fashion by my Barrera

    That's the point.

If Barrera wins everyone laughs at Khan, if Barrera loses he was shot.

    Khan can't win
You're only talking about the opinions of hardcore boxing fans who post on forums though Fenster.

If Khan wins the fight he wins huge in terms of future earning power, probably immediate title shot, massive tv coverage and he will be back to being the golden boy of British boxing again.

The comments of Violent Demise on Saddo's and similar non descripts on Eastside and Dog House won't affect his future in any way shape or form.

Look at Manny, ok on here he's not getting credit, but that hasn't stopped the rest of the world hailing him as the worlds best p4p fighter, and who now has already lined up another huge pay day and mega fight against Ricky Hatton who HBO are covering in a 24/7 show and will generate near record breaking ppv numbers.

Does Manny care one bit that posters on here arn't giving him full credit, my belief is that he does not.

Ultimately as important as we like to think our opinions are the fact is the boxing world hasn't heard of any of us and doesn't give two shits what we think. Even Steve Bunce continues to be even aware of our existence every time he talks about boxing on the internet.

    Barrera is shot!!

He isstill a good fighter but his best days are a few years ago and his best weight a few pounds ago, Warren has chosen Marco for his name value.

I think Marco still has what it takes to splatter Khan, if Gomez can have Khan hurt, a very clever, hard, experienced and genuine world class fighter like Marco deffinitly can.

If Khan wins, who did he beat? He beat someone who retired, someone who hasnt fought any ranked fighters at lightweight.

Khan has it all to lose, whereas if Marco wins, it will look good for a few days, then the reality will kick in that "oh hold on, Khan was knocked out in the first a couple of fights ago" and everyone will realise that Khan just hasnbt got what it takes to live with someone with a bit of class about em.

All being said, id be sad to see someone of Khans lowly abilitys taking Marco, its not right, he doesnt deserve a win over a hardworking great.

IMO there is definitely an element of that. I'm not saying its the only reason, but it is an aspect & you only have to look at the comments on many mainstream UK sports sites after his defeat to Prescott to see it. I think anyone who's ignoring it as a factor in why some people dislike him is being naive.

No excuses with a clean victory.Think people need to state exactly where they stand prior to a fight.I do believe Barrera is on the other side if it,but even at this point is a notch up on Khan I believe.Khan has size, speed, youth, homefield, range. But Im going with Barrera on big fight and over all experience via mid round TKO,6 or 7th round.Khan has never been in this deep...more mentally than physically... and he will be well suited to go after that nasty cut and protect his chin made of matchsticks. If Khan wins,he beat a legend and future HOF'r.If Barrera wins,he beat a young vulnerable prospect .....of course you can just flip that to suit ones own agenda

This is Khans sink or swim moment...he better bring his floaties and snorkle.

Khan gets too much hate. I hope he retires the old man Barrera and has a good career. Barrera needs to stay retired. He has no business fighting on.

if either win i don't think it means much for either fighter, if Khan wins, he beats an old war torn Barrera who should have stayed retired, and if Barrera wins he just pretty much shows Khan wasn't what everyone expected him to be and well basically just confirms what most thought about him after his loss to Presscott

It appears there are excuses which I find them really rediculous.
