    You simply need to just figure out roughly how many calories you are eating a day and then reduce it while doing some sort of cardio. You need carbs for energy, the best way to do this is to eat them at times when you require energy so you burn them. If you eat a shit load of carbs all the time then it gets stored and turned into fat. Carbs are not bad as long as you use them the right way. So you shouldnt really forget carbs and just eat protein, you need to include both in your diet. Cutting weight is mostly diet, if you were to do hectic cardio every day and eat nothing but shit you would get no results. Losing weight in an unhealthy matter like water weight, starving or any other stupid way then you will most likely not maintain it. Cut the shit food out, no soft drinks...AT ALL, no chocolate...no alcohol, eat some salads, steak, breast chicken,tuna,fruit...all common sense really. Oh and pizza is the kind of thing that could ruin all the hard work you do in a week in one night

    If you guys haven't noticed, i havent been on the forum that much for 3-4months, i've been cutting down for boxing, and i only started training last week. I cut down from 97kg, now im 83.5-84, and maintained alot of my muscle, my bodyfat currently is at 12%, which im pretty happy as i have no gut anymore. I trained as a bodybuilder rather than a boxer, but the whole principle to dieting is the same, your calories are the only variable as training is different.

    Put it this way, if you're a boxer you will end up requiring more calories, because u burn more with running, jogging, skipping, boxing, sparring, so on and so forth.

    You can still lose weight with boxing, but you're going to break down more muscle because the training you are doing is a mixture of various exercises that require different primary sources of fuel, i.e. jogging=glycogen from food you just ate in your pre workout meal.

    While High intensity interval training (sprint/walk/sprint/walk) uses fat and some glycogen from your pre workout meal, and very little muscle.

    Losing muscle is inevitable while dieting to lose weight, you're going to lose it either way, because you are on a calorie deficit diet and you have low insulin levels, therefore its extremely hard to stay anabolic at all times.

    Ketosis is another name for the "fat burning" process. When you start a VLCD (very low calorie diet), during the first one or two days your body uses glucose (a simple sugar stored by the body as the complex carbohydrate glycogen), for its main energy requirements. Once the body has used up its stored carbohydrate, it then switches to its other energy source - unwanted fat. A ketogenic diet is very low in carbohydrate.
    The body's stored fat is broken down into little fatty acid molecules called ketones and these circulate taking energy to all the tissues in the body. The Cambridge Diet has been carefully researched and formulated so that when used diets such as Cambridge Diet and Lighter Life, it has just enough carbohydrate for immediate energy and none left over for storage and induces a mild ketosis. The smallest intake of additional carbohydrate can upset this fragile balance and cause carbohydrate to be stored along with water, causing a plateau.
    The mild ketosis is an intrinsic part of the design of the a VLCD because it has significant benefits - it is the key to the comfort for the dieter:
    • It reduces the feeling of hunger - removing the temptation to err!

    • Ketones are the products produced by your body when it burns fat. Your body excretes these ketones in the urine and when you breathe out.
    AHAHAHAH, bro, ketosis is for obese people, and it should only be used in short term, it also enlarges the glands near your throat if you're on it too long. Ketosis isnt for atheletes,

    LOL, why thank you for that enlightening post, which pharmaceutical conglomerate do you work for?
    You can't help your metabolism 'function better', you can alter it by a couple percent at most if you were dieting strict and training consistently, otherwise you'd be transforming from an ectomorph, to endomorph to mesomorph etc. Everyone has a set metabolism from genetics and from the way your body developed from young, so the only thing you can do to combat it if you're a person that eats and it shows, with a gut or whatever, is determining what body type you have ecto,endo,meso like i said before.

    HAAHAHAHA, where in god's name did you get that from, that has got to be the biggest load of ... i've ever heard.

    Once you lose your weight, you still have to watch what you eat, but not so religiously because you are on a maintenance diet, rather than a deficit, i.e. you can eat a bit more carbs and fat and not worry about it.

    Sorry to burst your bubble, but I just get the shits when I see all these bullshit commercial diets posted, and if i hear one more word about lemon detox diet, im going to knockout someone.

The water comes and goes, the muscle and carbs get depleted, then you can begin to hit up that stored energy. Fat cells get used as energy, the good news about muscle is, it grows back when you work it/lose it with rest.

    Quickly is just not the best way to think about losing weight. Nutritionists say losing more than 1lb of body fat a week is dangerous.

    Not really bro, you probably are thinking more than 1 kg, i've trained with professional bodybuilders and nutritionists, I'm more than positive it is 1kg, rather than pound.

    Work out, snack regularly in small amounts with small/good calorie intake (don't eat a doughnut for a snack, try fruit or granola or salad), and drink more water
