Quintana used movement and well timed counters to keep Williams off him and with this he lowered Williams workrate big time which then lead to a clear UD win.

Now i know he beat Quintana in the rematch but 1 minute of a round to me doesn't prove that he can handle slick moving counter punchers.

Mayweather is a slick moving counter puncher who is slicker, quicker, more accurate and smarter than Quintana. He would hit Williams whenever he wanted to and with is defense would frustrate Williams.

    Mayweather wins a clear decision.

This is a bad matchup for Williams not the other way round.

I say Paul Williams wins by UD if he makes weight well at 147. I don't say this to discredit Mayweather as he is clearly the better boxer, but I believe PW is too big. He honestly doesn't belong in the 147lb division.

    I wouldn't take this fight if I was a short welter - anything under 5' 10".

I don't agree with you, but let me ask you this: would you rather see PBF fight Williams or the Pac/Hatton winner? I say Williams hands down.

After this past Saturday I may have to change my opinion. I thought that Williams would more than likely win by decision, now I think Floyd would beat him handily. Williams would be there the whole fight, but Floyd has already fought someone like him and dominated in his victory over Diego Corrales. Williams' flaws were highlighted over and over as Martinez held his hands low and saw Williams' right hand coming a mile off. Mayweather wouldn't get tagged anywhere near as often and would make Paul pay for those awkward misses. If Paul could sustain the body attack it would be Mayweather UD.

Paul Williams is a lot bigger and longer than Corrales. Corrales was 5'10 and Williams is 6'2. Corrales had a reach of 70" (Floyd's is 72") and Williams has a reach of 82". Corrales fought most of his career between 130 and 135. Williams has fought his entire career at 147 or above. Paul Williams is an entirely different animal.

Martinez laid a good blue print that Floyd could also execute, but Martinez is bigger (5'11), has longer reach (76") and is stronger than Floyd.

Also, just so you know, Floyd has said in the past that Pwill is too big for him. This fight will never happen. It would be too huge a step up in competition for Floyd. My guess is Floyd fights Pacquiao, makes a cool 50 million, and calls it a day.

I said whilst watching the fight the other day that I now think Mayweather wins. Before I thought he might struggle, but Floyd's got a good inside game & I think if Williams was troubled by Martinez' speed & athleticism on the inside then he would really be in trouble with Floyd's.

Both guy were very good the other night, but I think it showed the Quintana defeat was far from an aberration. It's by no means certain, but I do think we'd see a Mayweather victory. The most glaring thing I noticed is that whilst Williams has great punches against a guy who's not moving, he seems to lack that basic amateur pedigree to really deal with a guy who's good on the move.

Before Willims fought and lost to Quintana I said Floyd would stay low and counter over the top all night long...because Williams jab is a range finder and not meant to punish, so floyd would time it then hit him all night. paul's guard will be low because floyd will be low to the ground.

What Sergio did only makes it more evident, i mean sergio had his hands at his side the whole fight..If paul couldn't really connect flush on him..he'd look stupid against floyd.

Martinez proved he had a chin - he took some flush shots from Paul. Maybe the fact that he fights at or around 154 helped him handle those shots? Floyd has never taken shots like that. I wonder how he would handle Paul's power. With the length of Paul's arms, he would land at some point.

I have one BIG problem with this.. PWill has a spear for a double jab. I am not sure you watched the Martinez fight at all. He was snapping his head back fairly consistently in the middle rounds. He was NOT pawing with his jab.

Sergio paid for having his hands by his said plenty, but he rolled with a very large % of those shots.

I think Williams would be in big big trouble with Floyd if he head hunts all night like he did with Martinez, also. You should watch the 2nd Quintana fight again.. he set up the KO punches with great body shots to lower his hands.

PBF. Paul is very hittable the awkwardness of Quintana gave him hell, Floyd is awkward in a pure boxer sort of way.
