It's just the whole package. If a Shane Mosley were to complain about racism, I'd be all ears. And he'd probably be right (just an example). But coming from Holmes.... I just can't stomach anything that man has to say. And for the record, I think he got just as much press as Cooney did. But c'mon, since the day that white HW champions became scarce, the press has ALWAYS sought out the next "Great White Hope." It certainly wasn't a slight directed at Holmes, who I thought ALWAYS got his due from the press.
never seen like that happen again though, gotta hand it to larry though, he's hilarious even though his as isn't tryin to be lol

I can understand Holmes' bitterness, but why should he direct it it Ali? Ali had nothing to do with Holmes' "status". Yes Holmes could be one of the most underrated Heavy Champs of all-time. But that is not Ali's fault.
Holmes has a right to be bitter about how King robbed him of tying Marciano's record against Spinks. And also about being underrated.
But his own odd personality was to blame for his less-than-Ali public image.
He couldn't have won however he turned: he whipped an old Ali, people hated him for it, and then he had to follow Ali as the next Champ.
He wasn't really the spitting image of a Champ.
I don't know if he's a jerk. BUt he sure is bitter. Worst of all, he's a Heavy Champ and he's accusing another Heavy Champ of being overrated? He should feel comraderie with ALL Heavy Champs, and not judge harshly anyone who held the belt. Not even Bruce Seldon...........errr, ummm![]()
