I dunno if this victory makes Froch an overnight success either. Even Jermain Taylor says that when he tells people he is training for Froch they always ask him "Who is Carl Froch?" so that it is a little embarrassing.

I'm sorry but I don't know where the evidence to show Froch has a 'granite chin' is coming from. Who has tested him to back up this statement? Yeah, the Pascal fight was a right old ding dong but I put that down to both fighters having shocking defenses and Pascal wasn't exactly a KO artist en route to facing Froch was he? I've seen Froch fight numerous times on TV since his 8th professional bout and on more than two occasions he's been rocked by blown up light middleweights - not exactly a case for a 'granite chin' in my opinion

It sounds like all the fanboys and casual UK observers are falling for the old promoter/trainer hype.

Froch makes me laugh. He's criticised other fighters for not taking/getting the big fights all his career and he's finally facing a genuine world class opponent at the ripe old age of 31. I'd like to throw my support behind a fellow Brit but I neither respect Froch as a person or like his style of fighting.

Further to my last. Froch is just another Witter - all showboat and posing but no defense and he too will be exposed everytime he steps up to world level.

Bad Intentions to win UD or a late KO.

    Taylor UD.

Its going to be a tough fight for Taylor as down the years Froch has always come across as one of those fighters that 'finds a way' imo. One of his strengths is adapting during fights and I don't think he's the type who will be overawed, although he's obviously never been in a situation like this before.

That said, Taylor has the talent and the experience to take the fight. He'll have to pace himself well and Froch isn't to be underestimated but I like Taylor at 168. I've got a feeling he's going to put on a bit of a show and hopefully set up a future fight with Kessler - Its OK to dream

I'm still coming to terms with UK TV debacle! It must be one of the worst fighter/promoter decisions in recent times to go down the online PPV route. If I were in their shoes I'd have given it away to the Beeb or ITV for free rather than this. I'd be suprised if 5,000 buy it! Such a shame.

Froch is going to get the beating of his life. It's going to be Calzaghe/Lacy all over again with the nationalities reversed. Well, it won't be that bad, but will be close to that than, say, Tim Bradley vs Junior Witter.

Taylor is going to tattoo Froch with right hands ALL NIGHT. That low left hand will be his downfall. He's not quick enough to pull that off against would class fighters. The Pascal fight showed that clearly. Taylor is every bit as fast as Pascal, and on top of that, he can punch. He's not the biggest puncher, but he hits harder than Pascal. At some point, Froch will either go into survival mode and start looking for one big punch, or Taylor will stop him. Taylor is coming Either way, he looses. I reckon Froch will win a few rounds and it may be a close fight for the first six rounds, but Taylor will eventually outclass him. This is such a huge step up for Froch it isn't funny.

    Exactly!

The only decent punch I think iv seen Froch take was that big wild overhand right that Reid landed, Frochs head was smacked back but Reid threw that so desperately I doubt there was any real clout on it and as for Pascal, look at his KO percentage then look who its against

I can see Froch getting caught and hurt then holding and making it a very ugly fight, if Taylor can get a nice sharp start hes going to make Froch look like the inexperienced old man he is

    Dissagree!
Froch IS a virtual unknown and if he scalps Taylor in his first defence and in Taylors back yard then the boxing world will sit up and take to Froch instantly. (Everyone loves an underdog)
Let's not forget that the US public were desperate for Pavlik to be the new "Great White Hope" until Hopkins spoiled it for him.
Fact is that the US are still desperate for their own Calzaghe (undefeated white reigning champ) which was what Pavlik was supposed to be so if Carl does the buisness of course they're gonna latch onto him like one of their own
Froch will be in a very handsome negotiating position if he spanks down JT on Sat.
Beating Taylor in style on his own turf is still a massive scalp and it won't be easy at all.
Taylor has the better natural skills and is way quicker than anyone Froch has faced before but Carl is so awkward to fight against and will be huge at the weight and i just see him weathering Taylor in the first 4 or 5 then forcing him back and landing heavy blows.
I think he'll break Taylors heart simply because JT can't knock him out and start to ware him down and get a stoppage around the 10th and if he can do it i'd also expect Froch to base himself in the US from now on and who could blame him after no UK TV channel will be showing Saturdays fight.

Shame it's shown so late. If it was Sunday morning I would have swerved the result.

I agree that beating Taylor will do tons for boosting Froch's name recognition. He will have beat a big-name former world champion. At or around that weight class, the only bigger names still in the game are Roy Jones and Bernard Hopkins. Bute and Kessler should line up to fight him.

I disagree that american fight fans will suddenly adopt Froch as the greatest ever if he beats Jermain because he is a "great white hope." Pavlik was liked because he knocked out people and was humble doing it. He wasn't brash and arrogant like PBF or provocative like Hopkins. He reminded the average citizen in middle america of an ordinary guy. Take for example, the huge reception for Fernando Guerrero recently on FNF in Salisbury, Maryland. The largely white crowd rooted for Guerrero because he was a polite, local guy. For the same reason Maliggnaggi doesn't enjoy a big following outside of Staten Island because he comes off as a jerk. Moreover, most americans still don't acknowlege Calzaghe's greatness even after he came here and beat our best. And he is a Welsh Italian. If Froch wins over the american public, it won't be because we are looking for the next "great white hope."

I will be looking for Taylor to stop Carl "whoever that guy is" Froch. JT is going to beat him to the punch over and over. There is just too much riding on this fight for JT to lose. He is so dedicated and determined this guy is gonna need to bring on the plaster fists!

And to all the Hopkins nut huggers (cough, cough)... Froch and 41 year old Hopkins (JT/BHop) had very little in common. For one Froch with throw more than 300 punches in a 12 round fight. Cleverness alone doesn't win this fight. Works for scattegories really well, though.

this post just got me so pumped for the fight that i wish it was saturday already..

A lot of people discredit JT's power because of his KO %.. He's a TERRIBLE finisher, but he really does have the power to hurt anyone.. He slings those right hands, and his jab is a lazer.. As i posted previously, if his defense is as good as it was against Pavlik in their second fight, he will jab Froch's face off.. followed by those slinging right hands.. I've been let down by JT after the first Pavlik fight because he couldn't finish the KO, and his defense was so lackluster.. but his improvement was so visible that there is a lot of hope for him to be elite.. He just has to stay calm and not gas out, and be disciplined and patient with his defense.. everything else will unfold itself..

I just watched the Pacal/Froch fight again and Froch is very hittable and carries his hands pretty low...........I am more convinced than ever that Taylor will stop Froch.......
