After taking the weekend off to cool down from this fight, this is my first post on this topic..
I would agree that he KO'd Taylor with a cool head and determination.. not with intelligence though.. If you're going to say that he waited until Jermain gassed out to KO him, then that isn't true.. He knew in the back of his mind that there was a strong possibility that it would happen, and then in the later, championship rounds, he would have his best chance to do so.. But it wasn't like he was trying to weather the storm until then, and then come on in th e end.. He went back to his corner in a number of rounds saying "i got that round", or "i have him", when he was being beat on throughout the round.. Froch's trainer was definitely trying to make Froch aware that he was losing rounds, and needed to fight NOW.. It wasn't a, "You lost that round, but he expended a lot of energy, conserve yours so you can come on strong i na round or two".. There was definitely a sense of urgency since the middle of the fight, and Froch was still losing rounds..
I can't take ANYTHING away from Froch in this fight, his strength won him the fight.. It was Taylor's fight to lose, and he blew it.. Even if it was a 10-7 round, Taylor would've won a SD according to the judges.. 16 seconds from beating an undefeated champion, and getting a belt back becoming world champion again..
To be honest, I don't really see how Froch fans can say, "That's exactly how i saw the fight going." While i can understand, that on paper, the fight probably went as many of you figured, with JT winning early rounds, then Froch KO'ing him.. But if you watched the fight, it was absolutely the only way for Froch to win.. with 16 seconds left, mind you.. I am not sure that's "exactly" what fans predicted..
Taylor has underrated power, but at 168, there are several significant harder hitters.. Froch is going to have a hard time beating the other top dogs in the division, IMO.. I think Kessler would jab him to death, and Pavlik would stalk him down and hurt him.. He could probably KO Bute and Andrade, but neither of those would be a lock.
As far as styles go, i see Kessler being a nightmare for Froch. Kessler does not take many risks, and really keeps his distance.. Froch/Pavlik would be a hell of a battle, though.
Props to Froch for keeping his cool and finishing his opponent under pressure..
