He probably got better work in sparring....but then again debut fights are meant to be pretty easy, let him have 10-15 fights and we'll see how he does.

What if was the first person to KO Marion Wilson That would be impressive

Hope he does well.Would be great name recognition in a long line of sons following fathers into it.We can only hope he has that power flare.

I think Papa Foreman will be a great over seer and will be honest with him as he goes on,good or bad.He wont want his son out there as a novelty act or being hurt.Good luck to em.

I actually thought he looked well for his first fight. Very relaxed and got his man out of there quick. Can't dislike that.

Yeah, your first couple of pro fights are more about YOU and less about your opponent. Monk should work on the basics and try and keep progressing vs nobodies for about 10-15 fights, and then we can see if he's ready for good journeymen.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing while I was watching it.

His next opponent should at least looks like a fighter.
If you hear a voice within you saying that I am not a painter, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.

He hasnt had any amature bouts, I think his old man will put him through the same routine he used in his comeback which isnt a bad idea given his lack of experience, lots of activity, he'll learn along the way, he can put a combination together and doesnt look stiff, he'll only get better, his punches will hurt more as they sharpen up.

At least he wanted to impress unlike other fighters, I hope he does well and like already mentioned his dad has a vast knowledge of training from his all star list of trainers hed learnt from.

Totally agree, his punches will work better once his muscles know how to throw them. Muscle memory is a big thing for power punchers...also the confidence to throw them with bad intentions helps out alot.

He did leave his gloves at the impact point for a while though and that's no good.

I just hope Big George moves him along slowly, he's going to be pressured BIG TIME if he's able to get to 10-0 or 15-0...they need to make sure he moves along slowly because no matter what Monk is not 'Big' George Foreman and this ain't the 1970's....there are ALOT more Boxer/Punchers in the division these days and a lot more slicker fighters....they aren't as good as the guys in the 1970s but they have different styles, styles that are more polished than the heavyweights used to be.

x2 with Lyle, plus you need to remember he has no amateur bouts so I guess this was more of a "get the feel"-thing. We'll see...

Looks eerily like his dad though, with the big plodding shovel type shots. Kid has good power for starting out and the same awkward and lumbering offense of his dad. Should make for an exciting career.

Kudos to you George III. And good luck.

PS. I recently got a collection of some of Big George's earlier fights on DVD. In watching them, Im amazed that a guy with such horrible defense did so well with such superior offense. I guess if you have the one you dont necessarily need the other. Ron Lyle/George Foreman is one of my favorite HW fights of all time. What a doozy.
