You mean when he broke down and cried? Margarito beat the tears out of him in the second fight.

I think of Oliver McCall, it was a sad sight to see the man was obviously going through a lot and withdrawls that fight should have never went on. I still wonder if McCall was in the right frame of mind if Lewis would have beat him. There should have been a third fight

Yeah when Cintron basically sat down on the canvas; got up and walked to the corner and gave his cornerman a look and they stopped the fight with no seeming indication frm Cintron he wanted any more. Yeah, then the crying.

Yeah the McCall thing was weird; not sure he quit because I don't tink honestly he was ever in the fight to begin with, physically yeah but mentally no way. Part of me wanted a 3rd fight but part said I didn't want to see that again.

There was a fight{it' on youtube but I can't find it}with some white guy with braids and he jumped out of the ring and got punched on the way out. Not sure if he was a pro or not but that was QUIT of the century.

He was getting embarrassed and used a shit load of excuses like Leonard was clowning around, stomach aches, not being prepared, etc.

The Duran fight came into my mind first. Probably the most famous fight in boxing history where a so called Macho warrior just quits.
so called Macho warrior? are you trying to imply that just cause of this fight Duran of all people was not a warrior? if so, well buddy you got some studying to do. Leonard chose to do the smart thing in the rematch, which was box, and i applaude him for that, but who got the best of it when it was a war? oh yea Duran was the one to get his hand raised, and how many other wars did he go on to have, plenty

back to the main subject, Golota also quit against a stoned Mike Tyson, Freitas quit against Corrales, both fights in the middle of the round
This guy was known as Mr. Macho, that was the image and aura he gave off. His fans have defended for years why he quit. Stomach cramps, ballooning up in weight between fights, Leonard taunting, Leonard acting like a clown, Leonard cheating, etc.

He was outbox and outclass period. The first time during his days of dominance that he quits and turns around. And who gives a crap if it was a war and Leonard lost the first time? Boxing ain't just about brawls. Leonard didn't fight a smart fight the 1st time. What matters is that Leonard got the best of him the 2nd time around and make the so called macho warrior quit and have his fans come up with lame excuses.

Hell I take a Leonard anyday, now that's a warrior. See Hearns-Leonard fight where he's losing badly and needs a ko, if leonard was Duran he would of quit and hearns would have won. Not only that but he wouldn't have that retina injury and lost his prime years.

Freitas quit against Dieago Corrales. Freitas was winning the fight, but started to tire and caught some bombs from Diego and said F-this and waved it off.

Frietas against Diego Corraleas. He was taking a beating and just upped and quit. No mas. His nickname was Popo which means mother's milk. It fit.

He did show great heart against Jorge Barrios though, in a great fight i don't think its fair that some fans say he has no heart. Because he showed a ton of it in that fight.

Every time I see that I think it might have been a lot more funny if his opponent stopped still and just watched where that guy ended up after that crazy jump.

Ha, I'm with you there. It would have been funny to watch the guy pull a punch and see the guy on the ropes fall out of the ring all on his own. You can run but you can't hide.

Yes, that was one for the ages, but that one ruined him. He also quit on his stool against Diaz. Must be something in the Conneticut water.

I'm always a little hesitant to label a guy a quitter or heartless.I dont get punched in the face for a living so its a shit thing to do hastily. There are given circumstances with different fighters. Some endure beatings and when its so late that they see no recourse or have simply taken too much punishment...some opt out. Some guys are even up or in control and then get hit right on the nose or dropped, eyes water, blood pours, doubt swirls inside of the grey matter and they fail the gut check. Each fighter is different.

One of the oddest things Ive seen is what happened at the end of the Carlos Navaroo/Bobby Pacquioa fight. The man...Navarro went down a couple of times & all but demanded to be counted out azz he sat on his backside staring at the ref.....yelling at him "count" !!He punched the canvas after the last KD and just stayed there.....counting with the ref

Years ago young undefeated and rising top contender Todd Foster went into a big fight/showcase with war torn and come backing former light champion Jimmy Paul out of Kronk.Paul was trailing but you could see subtle shifts and Pauls jab had Todds eyes swelling.Along comes the forth and Foster gets nailed and goes down hard.Paul knew he had the young Foster who started trying to match jabs much to his detriment.Foster got cut and dropped in the 6th with a hook and Paul wailed on him to end the round. One of his corner men asked Todd in between rounds..."Do you have your head about you" and he answered No.Asked again he responded no in a shaky voice. He got off the stool but you could see what was coming.About 20 seconds into the round after a light combination Foster turned away, waived his hand at Paul and walked away. His corner did not "help him out" so he took it upon himself.Either way he had to live with it from there on out. Shite, off on a ramble here
