If that is not grounds for stopping a fight then what the hell is Even if he was down 10 rounds no corner or doctor should've let him continue. When does a fight merit stoppage after a butt? He was bleeding behind the eye and if he would've taken further damage he would have been risking permanent blindness. Besides the fact that they were nearly butting all fight every replay on every camera angle showed the butt caused the cut and since it was before the fifth round started then the fight is ruled a no contest. The rules are clear and the so was the tape. No matter what you want it to be the tape shows it clearly that the ref blew it. This is actually a poster boy for stopping a fight due to accidental butt. You can call Nate heartless or whatever but that doesn't take away from the facts that are the butt caused the cut, he had blood behind his eye, he couldn't see, and the fight only went 3 rounds. No contest.
Boxings fans have a mentality like that though. But its easy to call someone a scared when you aren't and never have been in their position. If you had a choice of risking permenant blindness or stopping and getting treated you'd choose getting treated to. Fighting on doesn't make you a "warrior" it makes you stupid. Being a warrior isnt what boxing is all about. It's about hitting and not get hit being a warrior is just a title boxing fans put on people that fight through adversity. But there's adversity and there's stupidity. If Campbell had fought on you may call him a "warrior" but when he's permenantly blinded you'd call him stupid. Your peers don't mean anything when it comes to your own health especially if they are so easily swayed by you getting out of the ring for your own good. If thats all it takes for fans to turn on you then I wouldn't want them.

Exactly. Another type of quit is an Ortiz-Maidana that is justifiable because the guy was seriously getting hammered but yet there was a thread here months ago where everyone called him a pussy and coward and he should have went out on his shield or whatever the fukk it meant. These guys have their family and themselves to look after first, not the fans lust to see a guy get permanently fukked up in the ring.

Hell at other boxing forums I remember posters saying Gerald McClellan was a dumbass for trying to be a warrior against Nigel Benn because of what happened after that fight, but I bet you if McClellan quit before the fatal round everyone would change their tune and call him a pussy.

Because at the end of the day fans don't care about the fighters as people(yet thats the first thing they want to judge them on) all they are to them is a fighter in the ring and if they quit they are a puss. Like I said they don't even care about a boxer as a person in those situations they only care about them as a boxer and that they get entertained and if they feel shortchanged they will take it all out on the fighter. Funny how you don't even see them as a person yet thats the first thing you judge them on. "Oh he quit cause he was blind in one eye. He was just looking for an excuse! He is a loser!" Its stupid. This whole "he HAS to be a warrior" mentality is whats killing boxing right now in terms of their fanbase. They just want to see bloody wars and they don't care who gets hurt because they arent in the ring. If Nate Campbell had fought on and gone on to be blind the rest of his life in that eye it's not worth the "respect" of your boxing fans if they so quickly turn on you in an instant. Screw those fans. Now maybe people will get why Bernard Hopkins didn't care about them. Because caring about the fans gets you beat.
