If you remember when they were fighting, bill said that she made him kill so many people because he felt he should be doing it for her, but that he tried and tried but couldn't love her. So, yes, a need to feel he had to please her, because he is more or less her apprentice, for lack of a better term, but not necessarily a need to love her.

Same with Jessica, where she was turned forcefully and really hated what she became after she was turned and hated bill for it.

If you remember this past episode when Bill came in the room when jessica and hoyt were going at it, hoyt said "those were screams of pleasure", meaning he thought bill came in to protect her.. and THAT is the bond between the maker and the new vamp.. it's obviously up to them to protect the newly turned and they are responsible for the actions. The bond doesn't necessarily have to be a physical attraction, especially if they newly turned vampire was turned without wanting to be one.

as i said, eric on the other hand, felt he was given a gift by Godric, as he basically saved his life and was grateful for it.

i think it's pretty black and white, but that's just me.

i do like your theory about godric and that would be interesting if he actually was bad, but i just caught the first half of the episode on HBO again and i didn't get that underlying evil feeling, but we shall see.
Remember that Bill's begging to be released and his telling his maker he didn't love her came 70 YEARS after she turned him.

The fact he stayed with her all that time and didn't just leave her on day one shows a fixed, inevitable bond between them.

And personally Eric seems VERY interested in Godric to me. They've been together over 1000 years, they routinely kill people for sport and indulge all their lusts, you can't tell me that Godric didn't pound the shit out of Eric at one point, especially as Godric is over 2000 years old and grew up in an era where buggering your enemy was a universally practiced show of dominance.

It may suprise you but until the coming of Christianity males regularly engaged in anal sex and all of the Greeks took young boy lovers.

So Godric would definitely have come from that background imo.

I think Eric was a viking, who were already feeling the effects of Christianity so homosexuality wasn't a common practiced, but butt fucking your enemies was common throughout the ancient world.

    So they bummed for sure.

Back to Godric, I just think there is more to the story. How did he get kidnapped by the Fellowship?

Why did that guy just before he snapped his neck say to him 'Godric, its me!' as if they were allied to each other in some way? Godric obviously chose not to recognise any such loyalty.

There's something going on, why did he say to Eric 'I require very little blood any more'? Has he progressed almost to immortality?

Mark my word's he's going to turn out to be one twisted fuck, and surely a connection between him and Maryanne will be revealed.

After all they are both thousands of years old. Maryanne was a Greek Goddess, what was Godric?

    We shall soon see......[/quote]

As vampires age, they require less feeding.. that is common in vampire novels that i've read.. just FYI.

I'm familiar with the whole ancient greek and roman ways..

and yes that was 70+ years when bill said what he said, but remember, that lorena was probably all bill knew as far as vampires went. she turned in and kept him for her own, and she was all he had. and he tried to make it work, and wanted to make her happy, as his maker, but he couldn't fall in love with her..

regardless of all of that, i don't see any inconsistency within the story so i don't know why i'm still talking about it.

i think you need to get your mind out of the gutter w/ all these sexual ideas hahaha.. i mean, just because eric respects godric doesn't mean they got it on w/ each other.. not saying it wasn't possible, but i didn't get that vibe at least.. and yes godric was alive back during the time you're speaking of, but Eric wasn't, and times change.. I look up to some of my male friends even though i don't have sexual relations with them

Really? I think Godric is the gayest looking character since Elijah Wood in Frodo Baggins.

He's the young man child, probably would have been considered the most sexually desirable figure in the ancient world to kings and rulers back in the day.

He was probably the boy lover of Leonidas, I expect he was also Antonious so beloved by the Roman emporer Hadrian.

If he lived that long of course he mixed with the highest of society, kings and rules.

I bet he was the ultimate object of male desire from Socrates to Oscar Wilde. I'm sure George Michael has had him over for parties too.

You can tell he has a ruthless Machievellian streak in him and he would have used his male charms to seduce a whose who of famous historical poof's.

Once again I want to say what I think before reading the thread.

Last nights episode made me angry.

Why the hell did they send Sookie into danger if it was that easy for them to raid the place? How did dude sneak up on a bunch of elder vampires with silver under his coat?

Also, Godric is full of it. He snapped that dudes neck that same night and Sookie watched him do it...

    Some good points BG.

I too agree with you that Godric is going to turn out to be Satan incarnate.

It's also strange that Luke was able to bypass the vampires ordinarily super senses and just wonder into their nest undetected.

But I'm wondering if he was undetected after all?

I have no doubt Godric knew and allowed him in, and no doubt it will likely be him who prevents tragedy at the beginning of the next episode.

    It's going to be interesting.

One thing I will say though is that this series so far has been brilliant, I literally can't wait for the next episode a feeling I've not had since the first season of Lost or the end of Seasons 1 and 2 of Dexter.

It's gripping stuff with so many mysteries to unravel.

They knew they could have raided the place to begin with. They sent Sookie to make sure that Godric was there and then they would have
acted. If you remember, Eric said to one of the guy vampires after he was pissed at him, that he could just go there and kill everyone and that he didn't care anymore cause he just wanted Godric back.

So what's your thoughts on how they got Godric in the first place RP?

Seeing how inept the fellowship was, and considering Godric was extremely powerful even by vampire standards it seems inconceivable to me that they could have captured him without his cooperation.

What did that guy mean before Godric snapped his neck when he said 'Godric its me'?

That sounded like he was his friend or ally in some sense, a long way from his captor.

It's strange, I think Godric is obviously going to become a major player from now on in the story.

As we are yet to see how Maryanne is related to the vampires I'm guessing their plot lines will converge at some point.....

Okay, just out of curiosity, I looked up what the name Godric means, and I had seen a couple definitions.

    Rules with God
    God Ruler
    Strong God
    Power of God

Just a thought, maybe Godric glamoured Gabe at one point, leading him to believe that Godric would never hurt him.

I would agree that they didn't capture him and that he possibly went there for som reason or another.. to make peace would be the most obvious, but we know that that whole idea is up in the air.

and, i don't know what the whole "godric, it's me" thing was with gabe, but it wasn't like he was in a fit of rage. he snapped his neck, looked at sookie and said, you shouldn't have come here.. he wasn't going to harm sookie.. and i really just think that he killed gabe because of gabes actions towards sookie.

I see the Godric story very black and white, and i believe that he is good and a peacemaker.. while i wouldn't be surprised otherwise, thats just my stand on it.

Eric and co. didn't know that Godric was there unharmed or uncaptured, so they acted as if he was captured and sent the humans in to investigate and not cause any trouble. Sookie read Steve's mind and knew that they had a vampire there, and she wanted to leave the church ASAP to tell Eric. At that point they would have raided the church to get him out.

Okay, I just now watched it, just a few quick tidbits, I'll post more thoughts later, because I have to get to bed.

Bilbo, Mike sodomized a pine tree, not a pineapple tree.

I laughed my ass off when Sara shot Jason in the nuts, and when Jason shot Rev. Newland in the forehead, and called him a fuckwad.

Jessica was annoying as $hit at first, but now I love her character, especially with Hoyt.

Season finale is September 10th, and the 3rd season won't start until next summer.

In real life, Sookie and Bill just got engaged.

They are also coming out with a True Blood drink, just before the finale. I guess it's a blood orange soda.
