    lol I had to look up the word chav. was a pretty funny first definition here...Urban Dictionary: chav

    Seriously tho, what is your goal?

    To try and beat someone up, or learn boxing and prove you are capable? Because if you are trying to do only the first thing, there isn't really any point. But if you plan on proving you are committed and capable, the best thing to do is show up time and again and learn the sport. By being there. By putting time.

    Put aside any preconceived notions, real or not, of who and what you think these people are. Seriously, who cares if they are "chavs". And get your goals clearer for yourself. I am not really sure what they are by reading this.

    You want to box or learn martial arts?

    If the answer is box, then you need to adjust your thinking. Every person I have seen step into the ring too soon with an axe to grind has never lasted. If he doesn't think you are a fighter (potential boxer), prove him wrong by becoming one. It's a process.

    Where are you from, btw?

    I want to do MMA, I do 2 or 3 sessions of boxing a week depending on my job and do one 3 hour session a week of MMA every saturday. He just doesn't like me because I'm not like the other guys who train as hard as I do, I'm just looking for tips to improve my style. The whole object of this thread is to try and get some tips for my spar on wednesday, my fight plan is to stay nice and relaxed and use my jab as a range finder, and then when I've done one fake punch motion and one or two jab range finders I'll let out a nice double jab straight or jab straight. I want to avoid the hooks until I'm positive I can land them on my target, usually when I spar it's my hooks in a combination that let me down and give them the opening to hit me.

    Once I've got them cut off in the ring or a bit fatigued and sluggish then I'll throw a nice few jab straight power punch combination's to overwhelm them. I need to prove to him that I've got what it takes, and that it's not just his bullies that he should be focused on.

    Is it all about gym wars and big egos there? If so, it's not the kind of place to become a better fighter. To many guys get caught up trying to be the champion of a gym instead of becoming a better fighter.
    If you hear a voice within you saying that I am not a painter, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.

    Do you think the boxing trainer is saying to your mma trainer that you wont make a good boxer or you wont make a fighter period?

    If he is against UFC as many would be, he may not want to waste his time giving you what he can if he thinks its going to go into something that he doesnt like or agree with.

    If you think thats the case leave or have a heart to heart with him and tell him your aim and ask him what he woud do in your position (and listen) keep your ego out of the conversation completly , just be honest and listen to his answer.
    Then thank him ,say you'll think hard on everything he has said, shake hands, go home and then make your decision in your own time and space.

    Remember this if you ever go to someone for any specialist advice :

    If you go to them with any of your own ideas;

    That is a man going up to someone who has a very special liquid and you have just appeared in front of him with a glass thats already got something in it.

    Others who come with a clean and empty glass get the pour, you wont.
