Does boxing need hatton back?

As ive said all along while i dont see the point in hatton drawing out a career in which he becomes desperately found out later on. Losses to floyd and pacquiao do not indicate a fighter who is past his sell by date more someone who fought at a level which was just too much for him.

He got frustrated against floyd and allowed his head to rule his heart, by no means was it a battering and even going into the last third of the fight he was still well in it. Pacquiao was a calamity from start to finish. You can train longer and harder than youve ever done in your entire life but if the gameplan isnt there against top level opposition you dont stand a chance.

If ricky hatton was american and had a career record that read 45-2 there wouldnt be a single person on this site calling for a halt to his career. Yet because us brits cant take seeing our boy take a beating we declare that the only reason he lost was because he was "past his sell by date"

The hatton that fought malignaggi was the quickest, busiest and strongest hatton ive seen since the kostya/vivian harris fights. That night he was reinvented yet within 6 disasterous minutes he is once again a shot fighter?

In a few recent fights now Hatton has been stopped or else wobbly. Mayweather, Lazcano, Pacquiao, heck even Collazo who isn't a big puncher had him in some trouble. Hattons chin does seem to be wavering.

Part of me would like one more fight to say farewell, but I would have him nowhere near any big punchers again. Not after being flat out for several minutes last time out. Nobody is ever out for that long in a major fight. It was worrying.

Hatton isnt the great great fighter of the 21st century, thats been conclusively proven. But for anyone to claim that by watching 6minutes of boxing they can say he is past his sell by date is madness.

I've been defending Malignaggi a bit recently, so can see he has balls considering his fists are made of cotton. He is a tricky customer and at his best is a handful for a lot of people. Hattons performance was impeccable, didn't put a foot wrong.

TBH I still have a hard time getting my head around those two rounds against Manny. It was so frustrating to watch. I don't think Hatton at his best simply gets blown out by Manny though, Hatton on the night fought one of those most reckless displays I have seen in a long while and got blasted for it. It's a fight that I really struggle to sit through, just horrible.

Like I say I wouldn't mind him coming back for another crack, but to do it for the right reasons and to watch that chin. I was always against a Khan fight, but I would love for him to comeback and knock Khan for six and then just walk away and say "That's me lot!". Would be nice for the fans too, but Hatton is seemingly as far from the ring as ever.

paulies one of those rare combinations of horrible to fight and horrible to watch

Manny Pacquiao is more than beatable (unlike floyd) but it was tactically the worst possible display anyone has ever put up against both himself and during a massive vegas showdown.

What the hell floyd snr was teaching him for 12 weeks god only knows. But reckless lunges, no use of footwork or jab and failure to combinate that sharp straight left = a very early night against manny which he got

It was a horrible disasterous display that deserved what it got. It was a carcrash of a defeat....it wasnt a slow painful beatdown ala pac-delahoya, calzaghe-lacy which really is a career ender!!

The way he has abused his body in between fights throughout his career with weight, drinking, etc has finally caught up with him and his punch resistance is declining with every fight.

Hatton has had a good career and has given us some good fights but now that is all over, he is done.
