CFH: Can you manually write me how much cost your final produce once customized and what's inside? I will tell you if to me it makes sense (though I am pretty sure it does).

*Hint*: you must have a damn killer UsB stick or external HD to have backup of everything.... I promise, I lost my things once and it has been the mother of all concerns, never will it happen twice. Look for some iomega External hard drive with shock technology, you can have 500 gig VERY portable for a damn cheap price now with the shockproof technology (which means against daily life shock and small accident, not against an infuriated anger of pointblank slamming with might on the wall)
    Hope this works:

    Cost: $639

I upgraded the wireless card (I assume that makes the internet connection faster), and the battery. Would it be worth it to upgrade the processor or the LCD screen?

Normally, it takes a few seconds to connect to the network, the better your card is, the stronger it is to capt signals.

As for the processor: for your needs, definitely not... at some point, you will pay a good share more for a small difference.

Battery:Can you upgrade your battery? Perhaps that could be good for you if you do so, not absolutely necessary but as you stated, if for you battery life is a must, then it can be interesting.

Ram: 3 gig is enough for what you do but if you can upgrade it to 4 with the model you've chosen, I would do so.

Screen: LED screen are definitely excellent, I wouldn't pay more for the little upgrade it provides, there is a small difference, perhaps, but not sure you can truly see it with the use you're making out of it.

The price I gave earlier was with it upgraded to a 6-cell battery. The 9-cell is an extra $50 on top of the 6-cell price.

With the 4 gig of ram, the upgraded WiFi card, and the 6-cell battery the price is $689 until Nov. 13, when the sale ends the price jumps to $809.

It is a very fair deal if you ask me, you should not disappointed at all by such little monster, even very satisfait I think. 6 cells battery for a 14' screen Is enough though if you can afford 50$ more, if you're a long life battery sucker, that might worth it but already, you have something way above decency for your needs.

Do they still make Toughbooks? If I paid for computer stuff that's what I'd buy. Forget about spec etc., with a laptop it's how well they stand up to getting dropped etc. I go through them at a rate of knots, I broke one jst last week.

I can picture you hurling them across the room every time you read one of Lyle's posts.

My girlfriend spilt a glass of wine into one in Amsterdam last week, although I did almost throw it a few times due to rubbish speeds. Last week was a nightmare internet-wise. I generally manage to drop them. I must have been through 20 in the last few years although I get them from work and just give them to people I know, family etc. I must have bust at least ten though. They really are delicate things, the Toughbook was great but the hard drive went, or something technical.
