Because of the massive video board, I think this would be a good move.

"...went 12 rounds with Ali, and never took a backwards step."
The big money would travel to see the fight (ringside buyers); and if he were fighting Floyd, you'd have enough pedestrian boxing interest to sell enough seats to call it a success. If you filled the under cards with a lot of Latin guys--Chavez, Jr, Gamboa, Valero, etc... you could sell out Texas stadium.
Luxury boxes included.

Man that would be so sweet, I would have to go if Mayweather and Pacquiao fought there, its two dreams in one. That stadium is unreal, and that fight would be even more unreal.
It's called direct marketing. Really big money is being able to pack a stadium. When it is held at a stadium merchandise, beer, parking and the like are all big for the promoter. But along with that big venue comes the big risk. It's less risk for a big fight just being a big fight rather that a mega draw when the venue is sponsored by a casino. It'd more prudent for a promoter to take the sure bet and hard work out of promoting by taking the casino's bid and make the fight in Vegas. When the fight is held in Vegas people buy stuff around the fight and the casinos make the extras.
So if you have the biggest fight of the century (Pacquiao vs Mayweather Jr.) and it's a sure thing as a promoter where would you want to make the fight?
lets hope it happens, anywhere but vegas is a nice change.
Yeah man, agreed.
I was in the pub yesterday and we were all on about how we wanted to go to Vegas if Haye fights a Klitschko there. I said I was a little bored of Vegas - if that is possible??
Don't get me wrong I love the place, hence why I've been like 5 times! But I have been waiting for a MSG fight for a while now, but somewhere as awesome as the Cowboys stadium would be just as cool. I wouldn't mind seeing a little more of America that isn't so tourist orientated!!
No way a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight happens anywhere but Vegas. The site fee that the MGM Grand will put up alone will stop anyone else outbidding them. The reason being that the hotel can accomodate a high-roller's fight ticket safe in the knowledge that some of those guys will drop up to anything up to $1m at the tables over the weekend. Take a few of those guys, plus all the other money spent by fans at the bar & it's a no-brainer for them especially on a fight this big.
The big fights will always be in Vegas, that includes Haye v Klit brothers. Attendance has very little to do with it unfortunately. Money is always highest in the casinos.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
