    Plyometric is prob. one of the better conditioning exercises for a boxer, in its ability to also work with key principles of our goals, explosiveness when expending energy, married with range of motion. It isn't the be all end all, but a very useful and important component, imo.

    I heard plyos should be worked with days in between. Should plyos be done after or before gym trng? How bout isos?

    Great question, but of to the gym .

    sure! nothing prepares you for boxing like been a gym rat. wonder if those exercises are a bit overrated?

    Not always and it depends on the gym.

    I've been in plenty of gyms and thought I'm not doing the exercises they want because I consider them to be dangerous, badly planned and just ass-backwards in terms of training method. In those cases I modify them if I'm working out as a group or go when I can do my own thing.

    If you can do a split routine it would be better. Consider what you are looking to train. Most people would think everything all the time! Good luck with that. If you want to work speed don't do it when you're going to be doing long circuits OR at least do speedwork beforehand.

    Thx, I'm actually not doing any of it, my boxing days are over. I am training a couple ppl thou.

    It all depends where you draw the line with Plyos and Isos, and the results you achieve plus what you are working to create. There are training techniques that encompass both at the same time, it depends how much of a shock you want, its all down to the old chestnut of Feel. Do you take a Hammer or a Ruler for effect. . Punching skipping can loosely be termed Plyos, Isos I feel where the line is drawn is open to debate, well for me it is. Its a name and discription given to a form of static ressistance, which Hinders sometimes what you are trying to achieve same as Plyos. Ive got things where theres a bit of Both in fact everything. People ask what do you class that as , my answer is exercise .

    just got off the phone with a friend who's a pt, knows a ton of shit about fitness even trains a couple mlb players. He said what you said and told me to forget about Isos, also to keep it just two days a week for starters. He's gonna give three of my guys a strenght test and draw a plyo work out for them, once I get it I'll post it.
