Have to say I'm floored by Wards transition over the last two with sizable competition....Panteras blueprint was already written but Ward totally outclassed him.Thought he might have even stopped him as Miranda looked like he wanted out but tonight he not only out boxed Kessler...he stepped to him out fought him in many spots.Head butts, holding etc etc aside, this is not a Sunday bowling tournament. Its Kesslers place to impose him strengths, over come adversity and meet fire with fire but Ward had him second guessing himself from the word go.

I wonder what would have happened if Kessler butted Ward 5 times?

The ref would have seen each and every one of em.

Ward fought the perfect fight. He did everythin he was suppose to and won...Kessler's jab was not there becuz Ward's jab was much faster an better. I believe if it had gone to the 12 Ward may have stopped him.

I thought Ward would win so this isn't a big surprise to me, but I agree that Ward fought a very Hopkinsesque style. He held at every chance possible. Kessler just couldn't adjust. He didn't know how to handle it. Funny thing is this is probably great for Froch because Froch may be able to come into their fight with a psychological advantage. Did Kessler's right hand ever reach Ward's chin?

Nah.Still illegal but a definite fact of the sport.Happens to one degree or another in every single fight. The absence of a iffy ref would not have souly alloted Kess the ability to best Wards boxing. His vaunted jab and perceived strength advantage would have been a better bet.

In the later rounds when Kessler's cut was really opening up, every time they were in close getting caught up, Ward was rubbing the side of his head into Kessler's eye.. Naughty Naughty..

But he fought a great fight and Kessler was in trouble the whole fight.

I think Ward is a bit to slick for Froch at this point..

bending at the waist/facing away from your opponent is ALSO illegal and if you do it excessivly then the back od your head is fair game IMO...

I don't know how anybody could give the first 2 rounds to ward. kessler won both rounds 1 and 2. You guys are blind.

I thought Kessler started far too slowly and then when the negative tactics came in, he really had no idea how to try and turn it around. Another fight that looked interesting on paper, but turned out far less than entertaining. Kessler was far too hesitant early on, so far play on Ward starting off more quickly, but those spoiling tactics were despicable.

He is well overboard on all that god business too. I have to roll my eyes when 'nutters' like him and Holyfield start saying they won because god was on their side. Clinching and butts played a larger role than god IMO.

Kessler held a ton, too, especially late when Ward started to really hurt him.

The ref was certainly no worse than Mickey Vann in a Hatton fight. Fact.

No excuses. I thought Kessler would win. I knew Ward had the style to beat Kessler, but I didn't think he would be consistent enough or hit hard enough to get respect. I was wrong. Kudos to Ward.
