both were terrific technicians and i admire both of them. canizales in particular had a beautiful style.

that said, i think canizales was the better fighter. a bit more versatile in technical skills and more athletic.

Good post im a big fan of Ricardo Lopez, but Orlando Canizales was just as skillful as Ricardo Lopez if not more skillful. He could punch in angles so well, i love the way he'd step to the side to find openings. And his footwork was top notch aswell.

I don't think theres much difference in there opposition, except that Ricardo Lopez did manage to win a world title by moving up, where as Orlando Canizales didn't. Although he did come so close against Wilfredo Vasquez.

ricardo lopez was great while orlando canizales was just a notch below. but both made many successful title defenses. finito had a total of 22 while canizales had 16 which in any era is very impressive. both were great, great technicians but i have to say i think lopez was just a little better.
