Any chance Hopkins would fight Danny Green now? I think it'd make him as much money as Dawson or Adamek and is probably an easier fight.

It might make him as much money if he went to Australia but there's no chance of that. Green doesn't even have a title to spruce it up.

No title? The most prestigious title in boxing! The IBO belt.
If BHOP cant beat RJJ he may go to Australia and beat the man who beat RJJ? Wishful thinking!

Ornelas is a stay busy tune up type thing, which makes sense considering his age, he's gonna want big money to fight Dawson.

This fight needs to happen, its one the most important fights in boxing, and two guys who should or are in the top 5 p4p fighting. This is a huge fight and I would like to see it. I felt Hopkins beat Calzaghe on the knock down in a really close fight, but I think Dawson is or will be better than Calzaghe before his career is over, he's harder to hit, he's faster, throws real punches, I think special things are in store for us between him and the deep, deep 168 pound field, but first he needs to beat Hopkins if he can. The biggest problem Hopkins had with Calzaghe was output, and Dawson is the huge output kind of guy, also Hopkins looked very quick and had plenty of stamina for his fight with Pavlik. I just don't see Dawson's problems which are mostly his defensive foot movement(which is choppy and way too slow) causing him troubles against Hopkins, and I think he would have a lot more success against Hopkins's defense because he is the fastest guy Hopkins will ahve fought since Jones in 93, and he's a lot more calculated and goes to the body much better than Calzaghe.

Two times now Hopkins sat and counted the bucks waiting, only to watch rival cash cow Jones get handled badly.Dawson needs him much, much more than Hopkins needs a Dawson. He's where the glory and the history are at...rematch wins over Johnson and Tarver will not put Dawson on the map.Talk loud and hope to draw him in,he may bite.I think Hopkins barring some insta age and depletion can handle Dawson.First things first....Hopkins has to look lively and impressive tonight vs Rugged Ornelus

Nah your not understanding what im saying mate, im not doubting Bernard Hopkins wouldn't be a tough fight for Chad Dawson. I'd just like to see Chad Dawson take on some of the new upcoming Light Heavyweights, its more exciting to me rather than a boring controversial tactical fight with Bernard Hopkins.
There's an important factor here that your missing though Ice.

Bernard technically was the linear champ at light heavyweight. He beat Antonio Tarver to claim the undisputed title and was the Ring champ. Since then he lost to Calzaghe in a close fight but Calzaghe has now retired. Also there was no belt on the line against Calzaghe as it was fought at 170 so Hopkins is basically still the linear champ.

You will see that the Ring now have the 175 title as vacant and it will remain as long as B Hop keeps fighting and avoiding Chad Dawson.

Dawson wants to be recognised as the the undisputed champ at 175 and the only way he can lay claim to that is by beating Hopkins.

For Dawsons status as number, for his legacy in beating the old champion and for the universal respect of fight fans he needs to beat Bernard Hopkins.

Wins over the likes of Tarver, Johnson and maybe Pascal or Diaconu won't make him number one the way a win over B Hop will.

Clearly Dawson wants B Hop, its by far the most significant fight out there for him, and he wants to say he beat the champ to become the champ.

The lightheavy title was on the line (it wasn't at 170). Calzaghe then defended it against Roy.

    It's vacant cause he retired.

If Dawson is such an easy win for BHop then why is he avoiding him? Obviously BHop doesn't think so. BHop was willing to fight Adamek, whom Dawson beat. BHop was willing to fight Glen Johnson had he beat Dawson either time. And BHop was willing to fight Ornelas for a mere $200,000 so money is not the issue. And you can't be serious comparing Pavlik to Dawson. That is so laughable. People said BHop would beat Taylor. Look what happened there. Anybody can play that game...its called avoidance. There are 1000 differences between Dawson and Pavlik. They fight nothing alike not to mention Dawson is bigger, faster, stronger, more athletic, more agile, more versatile, more equipped, better experienced, southpaw, etc... BHop fans can say what they want about why he won't fight Dawson, its easy for us to talk on the sideline, but the man who actually has to step in the ring with Dawson refuses to take the fight every single time. How can anybody, fan or hater, spin for the good what BHop is blatantly doing to avoid a Dawson fight?

Him beating the Young ones isnt gonna get him the exposure he needs. He needs a bunch of names on his resume to have some sort of draw so fighting(and beating if he did) Hopkins would make him a name and he may even get a ppv match out of it. But he has to fight these "old guys" to get his name out because he isnt a naturally hyped ko machine

I don't know, according to boxrec Calzaghe Hopkins wasn't a title fight.
