I'll agree he has a lot in his arsenal, but when he fights true world class his chin will be tested and for me his defence is still questionable so that will not save him. It is quite a shame too because if he had a decent chin he could probably go on to great things but if you put him in with a p4p fighter he would get sparked because a p4p fighter will always find someone's chin good (unless they're fighting PBF) at some point, and that will be the telling moment in a Khan fight.
Because Dmitriy Salita was crap, not a single person on here that i see. Thought this really was a serious fight, he had a rubbish chin and had a ridiculously padded record.
Its not hate its just frustration wanting to see him fight, some legit opposition any of the opponents i listed would be fine.
What world class opponents has Amir Khan beat ? you say i overrate Lucian Bute wins, well tell me what win Amir Khan has on his record that impresses you ?
I think its a bit ridiculous to say he would beat someone, of JMM's class or any world class opponent. When he hasn't even beaten the best that Britain has to offer.
He's 22 Kel and he's already beaten Marco Antonio Barrera.
What other 22 year olds are there with better resume's than him?
Name them for me, I'd love to know all the other 22 year old kids who are world champions with a win over a living legend already to their name.
The only other ones I can think of are Devon Alexander and Koki Komeda, and neither has beaten a Barrera.
The difference between Khan and Bute is firstly, he's seven years younger and is already a world champ whereas Bute at the same age hadn't even turned professional.
Secondly nobody is trying to make a claim that Amir Khan is the number 1 at light welter like Bute is alleged to be according to the Ring.
If the Ring were to rank Amir as number 1 at lightweight I would say it was ridiculous also and point out that Bradley, Diaz, Hatton and arguably Nate Campbell and Devon Alexander should be above him.
It's a completely different argument.
The kid is sensational for his age, I'll repeat what I said to Kel, show me the other young kids of 22 or younger who have done more than Amir Khan.
He's one of the very best prospects in boxing, its simply not in dispute.
He's had tons of Amateur experience, and plenty of professional fights. He got his title off probably one of worst title holders, in the last 2 decades.
And his win over MAB was laughable, not only did MAB look crap against a journeyman in his last outing. He got a horrible cut, that didn't have enough time to recover against Amir Khan, who also headbutted MAB.
And it should of been a No Contest, but on purpose they stopped it after the 4th round to give Amir Khan a tainted victory.
When he already had just about everyother, advantage in his favor. Im sorry but Amir Khan's career has been so wrapped up in a cotton wool, its ridiculous even if he's young or not.
His only took on one opponent who can bang, and thats only because nobody had ever heard of him. And even Breidis Prescott has been exposed as not being that good himself.
Just look at all his other opponents, none of them can hit. And thats because there crapping themselves about Amir Khan being in with a puncher.
And until he does or he atleast fights someone with a name, he gets no respect from me.
He complains about getting no respect, well driving 140mph running someone over, complaining about racism and this and that, when he's basically since the Olympics had everything on a silver platter.
Aswell as being well overhyped and coming out with complete crap, aswell as so far not fighting one single dangerous opponent, and he wonders why people go off ?
You can't compare there age, Lucian Bute started professionally alot older than Amir Khan did. But when Lucian Bute had 23 fights the same amount Amir Khan has now, he had beaten better quality opposition than Amir Khan by quite a big margin.
Im not saying your claiming Amir Khan is number 1, what im saying is how the hell can you say Amir Khan is this and that. When he hasn't beaten one single world class opponent or one good opponent ?
Shouldn't you wait and see how he does vs a puncher, or any of the other names i listed before. Before you start saying he would beat JMM and ETC.
I don't like Amir Khan but i don't hate him, im more frustrated than anything else. That he isn't fighting any legit opponents, after this fight he has to fight atleast Marcos Rene Maidana.
If he beats him i will give him credit, because not only has he beat a puncher. He's beaten a fighter with a name whos a live dangerous opponent.
I also never said he wasn't a good prospect, i just want to know good he truly is.
If that's true why do you feel the need to disrespect him then? I mean why create a thread with the title 'Forget the Amir Khan fight...'. I mean you think it was a soft opponent, ok fair enough, but he blitzed him in truly sensational style and made his first world title defence inside 76 seconds. That's impressive, whether the guy was world class or not. Why can't you just praise Kevin Mitchell's performance without raining on Amir?
There are so many of you who absolutely hate on him, whenever he fights all we get his hate threads afterwards with people whining about him.
If you don't hate him, and think he is a good prospect then give him a chance.
Let me ask you this, how he could he possibly have been moved any faster in his last four fights than he has been?
He came off a devastating 1 round loss, and so went in with Osin Fagin. A respectable opponent for a comeback fight but a light hitter obviously, certainly no different from Cotto coming back against Michael Jennings, a sensible choice.
Then he got paired with Barrera, a fight where most laughed when it was announced saying he would get killed. Then he won every single round. The cut was very unfortunate, but not Amir's fault, he still did his job.
Then he fought for a world title fight, and ANY world title fight is a big fight.
He wins that and makes his mandatory and wins that.
So let me ask you, in that space of time, what more could he have done? He had to take a comeback fight, he then defeated a legend, then won a world title, then defended it against the mandatory guy he HAD to defend against.
What more could he have done?
Kevin Mitchell is 25 and has only stepped up to Breidas Prescott level tonight.
which fucking retard thought a blown-up and shot barrera would kill khan? what a fucking dumbass he must be.
that was a farcical match-up.
