Well he wasn't really at MW long enough to fight elite other than B-Hop (and no-one came close to KOing him) but he floored iron chinned Toney at SMW and the punch that caved in Virgil Hill's ribs at LHW was freakish and the KO punch on Griffin at LHW showed his freak power, so i'd say he was p4p a better puncher at MW than LHW.
so you just said it, he didn't really ever fight an elite fighter aside from Hopkins at 160, so how can he really be considered the hardest hitting MW when he never really did anything but beat up journeymen and contenders while being there? Hagler on the other hand has a list of world class fighters at 160 whom he KO'd

don't get me wrong, Jones was a devastating puncher at 160 and 168 but IMO he wasn't the hardest puncher the division has had

Yep I suppose you make a fair point. If Jones had stayed at MW throughout his career I think we'd have seen him KO some good names though and back up my arguement better.

I think if you got Julian Jackson and Roy Jones together and put them on pressure pads to see who hit harder at MW, Jones would prevail. Just my opinion though.

It's an awful long time ago, but those who know of Stanley Ketchel will tell you he was probably the hardest hitting middleweight of all time. This young kid had dynamite in both fists and balls to match. He fought some of the biggest names in the game. The former Welterweight and Middleweight champion moved to Heavyweight to fight Jack Johnson and subsequently floored Johnson in the 12th round. As legend has it, that did nothing but upset Johnson who got up off the canvas to knockout Ketchel in the same round.

Ketchel gave up nearly 30lbs in weight to fight Johnson and very nearly added the Heavyweight title to his others. This really was one very special fighter who was sadly murdered at just 24 years old.

I really dont think you'll find a fighter in Middleweight history that hit as hard as Ketchel.
Some people say boxing is a matter of life or death, it's not, it's far more important than that.
