Ask the Doc: With steroid and HGH testing, is blood or urine best? | MMAjunkie.com

Here's a quote about which is better

Anyway, urine testing is cheaper, less invasive (no needle stick required) and has fewer potential complications (not unless peeing on your hand is considered a complication) than blood testing.

Blood screening is more sensitive (more likely to detect a banned substance), detects more banned substances, and is more difficult to beat through "masking" methods. Blood screening is the current standard for detecting abnormally elevated levels of synthetic human growth hormone (HGH).

Feel free to read all of that. Urine testing is easier to mask then blood testing, as has been proven before and will be again.

And here's another quote from another article

Travis Tygart, the CEO of USADA, told Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports that both urine and blood tests are needed to determine if a fighter is clean.

"There is no urine-based tested for human-growth hormone," Tygart said. "It doesn’t show up in the urine. It’s only a blood-based test. That’s true of a number of prohibited substances, particularly those that would enhance and aid a boxer.”

Maybe you're the one that should have done research on Urine and Blood.
Thank god somebody knows what they are talking about.

Sometimes you can't take articles and blogs as facts. I think that Dr. columnist dude has a hard-on for Mayweather. He seems to want you to beleive he is not bias. Also it's like he's hiding behind the "Dr." in his name as authoritative. If you read some of his shit, He writes in half truths and backs up nothing with facts.

Blood testing cost more that than Urine testing <---> Urine testing cost more than Blood testing. It depends on what kind of test you are doing and what you are testing for.

The USADA and the World ADA both say you need blood testing to find HGH and a bunch of other PEDs.

The USADA chief is already linked earlier in the thread. Here's WADA's opinion :

EXCLUSIVE: WADA “HGH ONLY DETECTED IN BLOOD”

These are the world's top drug-testing authorities and they test the world's top athletes. Can you imagine if Michael Phelps announced tomorrow that he wasn't going to do any more random testing, that he's only agree to be tested with scheduled tests and wanted a 30 day cutoff point before the Olympic Games and the World Championships, and that he thought the USADA was a corrupt organisation and he wanted to pick his own testing organisation? He'd be destroyed by the US media in one 24 hour news cycle. If he continued to refuse his career would be over. The same standards should apply to Pacneedle.

Officials Question a Blood Test That Is Never Positive

The link to the article basically says the blood test itself was being sold to catch cheaters but doesn't work. The proponents for the blood test argue It hasn't caught anyone because it has to be applied out of competition. If no test comes back positive, then they are confident that hgh is not being used.

USADA has contributed funding for it's development two years ago. Why would a guy say there is no way to detect hgh in urine when he puts up money to help the development and knows it is available?

This not the Olympics where you are testing 100s of Athletes with profiling techniques. Masking techniques work in a production applications because it's purpose is to avoid being red flagged for additional testing. Masking is self incriminating because it wipes out all the substances targeted both natural and synthetic. Not only that the testing will be a gamut for all banned substances on the list. Besides there is plenty of people around that would pull on Pacquiao's and Mayweather's dicks to make sure the piss is real.

The article doesn't say that the blood test doesn't work.

The new urine test USADA are funding is still in development, doesn't exist yet.

As far as the heads of the testing organisations are concerned -- crucially, people who know what they're talking about -- random blood testing is the most effective testing mehod currently available.

Here's something anybody wanting to know about drug testing should read :
