As much as I would enjoy watching Jones get his ass kicked. The fight itself is sad. Let's hope for both it's their last fight.

Great news. Speak with your wallets and don't buy this shit.

And Pugilistic - they should be allowed to get some paydays?? Excuse me? Both these guys are millionaires many, many times over - so now they should be allowed to take the piss out of boxing fans by staging this old-fart fest on PPV? Don't think so.

If Hopkins wants a payday he should fight Adamek or move up and fight a heavyweight.

I know he likes to stack the cards in his favour these days but I won't be paying for it. I won't be watching it either. Both of these guys were once great, but Hopkins is a money fighter these days and Roy is damaged goods - and I've no interest in seeing him get damaged further.

If Hopkins catches Roy with a punch like he caught Calzaghe, Roy will probably look like he did at the end of Tarver II, or Johnson. I don't care to see that again. They should rent out a gym, and have it out in private if they feel they really have to.

    lol

I think some of you are exaggerating your disgust for the fight.

It'll still be better than a chavez Jr. ppv.

I don't agree with it being a PPV or with the fight happening at all.

I just ain't going to criticise them when they have given so much for the sport.

You trying to tell me Hopkins gets more money fighting Adamek than Jones ? I don't think so.

Hopkins actually wanted Green before Jones, but Green seemed to think he deserved 50-50 split.

Hopkins plans on going to heavyweight after his fight with Jones, It will be against the winner of Haye - Ruiz.

Hopkins is a money fighter ? Whether you like it or not, money concerns every fighter and if i'm correct Hopkins donated his purse from his last fight to charity. Yeah he's all about the money.

    He donated it to charity?

He made $200,000 against Ornelas. He makes MORE just doing promotional work for Golden Boy ($250,000 per gig).

All fighters chief concern is how much money they make. Hopkins is the daddy of chasing his most lucrative option. That's why he's fighting shot-to-bits Roy instead of Chad "worth two bob" Dawson.

Hopkins could retire tommorow and still be one of the greatest to ever step in the ring...A top 25 IMO....This like I said is just more or less a score to settle on Hopkins part and Jones well...Right now he has not too many options does he?...IO am sure he believes that since he won the first one he should win the rematch easily....

Hopkins is a charitable person just does not make public note of it...He has donated millions to the city of Philadelphia causes....Big on childrens charities as well....

He is a cheap ass son of a gun though and even cheaper when it comes to spending his money but the man came from nothing and he has seen countless other fighters who made a lot more then him go broke...He is not going to be another cliche

Hopkins is fighting Roy because it's the best "risk-reward" fight over his other options - Dawson, Bute, Adamek or Green.

He already turned down $2 million for Adamek.

Here's Hopkins view when in his pomp - "I'm glad that I have three belts because that means I have three mandatories a year and I can make $2 million or $3 million dollars every time I step in the ring with Donald Duck. I can deal with that."

Hopkins wants the easiest fight for the most money. He's smart.

Heh, maybe he'll call out Taylor next, then try to get Calzaghe out of retirement, but I imagine he's willing to let Clinton Mitchell go...!

Edit: Then again maybe trouncing Pavlik eases his mind about Taylor?

If Ruiz won and then lost to Hopkins, that would be quite an unenviable distinction to lose the Heavyweight title to two different former Middleweights!

Technically, it would be three, as he lost to Toney, who later had the win stripped after testing positive for an illegal substance (as if he needed it).

And they accuse Mayweather of cherry picking. Roy has look the worst he has in years and now this fight is finally being made? It should have been made before he went to Heavyweight.

Theres the link. Hopkins donates to three different charities.
:: Golden Boy Promotions Inc. ::

In addition to fighting for his fans, Hopkins will be fighting for charity as he has committed to donating one dollar from each ticket sold to three select charities. Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Philadelphia & Susquehanna Valley, to which Hopkins will donate in memory of Shaun Negler, one of his biggest fans, whose last wish was to attend Hopkins' fight against Joe Calzaghe before succumbing to brain cancer in late 2008 at the age of 18, will be one beneficiary. The second recipient of the fight's proceeds will be The Hero Thrill Show, an annual day of events designed to raise money for the education of relatives of deceased police and fire personnel killed in the line of duty while protecting Philadelphia. Finally, one dollar will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. in memory of Hopkins' deceased mother Shirley who suffered from breast cancer and in recognition of all those who are currently battling the disease.
