Thread: Potential Upsets

I think a guy like Carl Froch (if he lasts and there's little reason to think otherwise) can beat Bute. Bute reminds me a lot of Yusaf Mack, he can box, he has decent pop, but a durable opponent that has a steady attack can get to him....just my opinion. I know Miranda hasn't been the most durable or steady with his attack but he's still dangerous.

Bute will handle Miranda quite easily imo.

...more than likely but I just think it's a dangerous fight for Bute.

Well I guess Povetkin-Guinn isn't on now it's Povetkin-Javier Mora.....so I highly doubt there will be an upset there

If Miranda breaks Bute's jaw (which obviously can happen) like he broke Abraham's I don't see Bute having the success AA did.

I know Guinn is a real long shot but I haven't been impressed by Povetkin. I've seen Povetkin get popped by Eddie Chambers enough to swell his eye shut and I've seen Povetkin gas out in the very same fight and had Eddie thrown ANYTHING in the last 3 rounds Povetkin would have been stopped...he was that tired. And he was ineffective with his attack BUT of course that's against Eddie Chambers' defense so I think he'll land on Guinn but he won't hurt Guinn and pair that with Guinn's power (when he throws) and Povetkin's questionable stamina then you've got a chance at an upset.

The reason why they are called "upsets" is because they are unexpected.
I seriously just do not understand the obsession this forum has with lucien bute

Allan green apart there isnt a single fighter in the super 6 who wouldnt beat him to a pulp given half the chance

heck pascal would take bute to school
Woah there buddy. I can't speak for everyone, but I can tell you why I like him. He is fast, he is powerful, and he uses body punches. I'm a big fan of devesating body punchers.

Bute would thrash Froch, Kessler, and Dirrell (at this stage in his career) and if he didn't gas out, he would beat Abraham. Ward versus Bute would be an exhibition of boxing class.

I agree. Bute is an outstanding talent and he would have entered into the Super 6 as one of the favorites (he would have been my choice to win).

He got the crap beat out of him by andrade and the only reason he wasnt knocked out was because of the ref blatantly cheating to help him.

If Librado Andrade can beat the crap out of bute i sure as hell dont give him much chance against far heavier hitters like kessler, abraham and smarter fighters like froch and dirrell.

That's one of the dumbest things I read. What exactly makes Fraud a smart fighter?

His calling Froch a "smarter fighter" is based on the same thing that makes butter faces look hot at the end of a party.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

Whatever VD, you clearly don't know boxing. It's always the slickest, smartest fighters like Froch who don't get credit. Froch is so smart that he knew that if he threw punches at air all night against Dirrell & focused on punching accurately only when in the clinch, then the judges would give him a extremely dubious decision. He's a tactical mastermind.

Other ring geniuses through the ages: Samuel Peter, David Diaz, Randall 'Tex' Cobb.

I'm actually embarassed for the forum that it took nearly 12 hours for someone to pick up on that comment

Some images of the defensive wizard that is Carl 'The Cobra (because he's elusive & deadly)' Froch

It's clear to me Carl has his own version of Mayweather's shoulder roll, whereby he rolls his ribs or face into an opponent's oncoming punch. I'm not yet sure why does this, but it is clearly some form of the sweet science that only a ring maestro like Froch can comprehend. His ring IQ would make him the boxing Einstein, yet I suspect his brainpower means that solving quantum theories and complex mathematic equations weren't enough for him. As a superior human being, he will probably do all that & cure the world of diseases when retires as the greatest fighter the world has ever known. All hail Froch!!

Beat the crap out of him? Did you watch that fight? Bute completely schooled him for 11 rounds, it was barely competitive. He did gas out late and traded with Andrade which was a huge mistake he almost paid dearly for , he took a good deal of punishment in that 12th round but that was it. In the rematch he completely blitzed him in 4 rounds being the only man to ever even hurt Andrade. Do you have any basis for which fighters you like or dislike or do you just pull things out of your arse to be a troll?
