Well I never thought Tony was that good in the first place...but I'm certainly not going to overturn all of his fights because NAZ caught him BEFORE he was able to cheat. And Despite what everybody wants to believe there was no proof that he cheated against cotto. I've watched that fight several times and the concrete wasn't in his head or chin that allowed him to walk through cotto's punches all night breaking his will. I can't remember which poster it was on this forum that said after seeing how cotto ran from mosley at the end of the fight that there was no way cotto was going to beat Margarito which turned out to be just that. Even after that fight Kenny Bayless and Cotto are seen holding margarito by his hand wraps and if they were hard like plaster i'm pretty sure they would have noticed. Point is he was caught before hand.

You make some good points. It can't be absolutely proven that Margarito had plaster in his gloves against Cotto. And he did walk through Cotto's best shots.

    But here's the thing:

    1. If he was caught cheating against Mosley, it's got to at least cast a reasonable doubt against his previous fights, including Cotto's.

    2. When he did connect on Cotto, the damage was devastating and immediate to Cotto's face. He broke his nose, and swelled him up something fierce. Cotto had been in wars before, and never ended up like that. It's only natural to be suspicious of Margarito, given the facts that surfaced later on in his fight vs. Mosley.

On the other hand, I always wondered how Margarito was able to walk through Cotto's punches, and then went down so easily against Mosley. But I think the answer lies in how the punches were being thrown. Cotto connected well, but his punches were thrown off his back foot. He rarely put his whole body into them as Mosley did. Also, Margarito did a good job of sort of rolling with Cotto's punches, deadening some of the impact.

It was a bad night for me, as a Cotto fan. But I was jumping with joy when Mosley took Margarito apart.

The first part is simple, he landed some heavy shots on cotto plus cotto cuts and bleeds easy. Look at the judah and pac fights. Even feather puncher Paulie gave him noticeable swelling.

Secondly, man if you call what happened with mosley, going down easily then i'd hate to see what you think going down with a fight is....I mean mosley was hammering him with the over hands all night he hit with at least 70 flush over hand rights not to mention he was banging him to the body. NOBODY at 147 could have lasted 9 rounds taking those shots even if they were from Malignaggi and he's probably the softest puncher p4p in the sport.
