So Montiel won? I guess that means Donaire must climb a place in the Ring rankings seeing as they both fight in the same division.

They will both be in the top 10 now for sure, soon to be joined by the as yet to be revealed 8-1-1 fighter who will come from straight from the paddyfields and into a world title upset.

Donaire is a 115 fighter, the Hasegawa-Montiel fight was at 118.

Oh no I feel so silly. They are all 7 stone weaklings and overated is the point I was making.

And yet these 7 stone weaklings can probably whip your ass in the boxing ring and in a street fight.

Mate most of the American Under 10's national girls baton twirling team could probably beat me in a fight but it doesn't qualify them for p4p status.

It just annoys me these guys fight in a weight class in which only about 200 people compete worldwide and they rise to the top of this tiny pile and are considered to be the equals of true stars like Mosely, Hopkins and Cotto.

Wisla Krakow are the most successful current football club in Poland with back to back league championship wins in 08 and 09 bu it doesn't rank them alongside the likes of Manchester United and Barcelona because they play in a shitty league.

Yet in boxing it seems I am the only person capable of realising this important distinction.

When Montiel or Donaire inevitably lose their world titles to either a figher with half as many losses as wins or else less than double figure fights no one will consider it was becuase they just weren't that good. Instead they will just hail this new 'crab fisherman cum fighter' as the next great star to put down his rod, scythe or plough and prove himself amongst the world's boxing elite...

I think you're exaggerating greatly when you say that guys like Donaire and Montiel are consider to be stars of the same caliber of Cotto, Hopkins, Mosley.

So were Barrera, Morales, Salvador Sanchez, Manny Pacquiao, Hamed, Willie Pep, Alexis Arguello, not consider to be true boxing stars that fought the majority of their careers in these lower weight classes?

I remember you said somewhere that guys under 10 stone or 140 pounds were not real fighters or boxers or something of that nature. Which I find ridiculous.

If you like the higher weight guys then say so, no need to talk bad about the lower weight guys because they are smaller men.

True boxing fans will still like to see a great fight at 118, 122, 126, or any weight class for that matter. Doesn't have a bearing on what weight class it is for someone like me.

I'm genuinely surprised by this result. After watching the video, it was the right decision by Cole (I feel dirty just saying that). I expected to feel otherwise when I read that it was stopped at 2:59, but it's not Cole's job to take time into consideration when stopping a fight and Hasegawa was done.

My stream wasn't great, but after the fight ended he didnt look at all bad? I think if given the minute he would have been okay to continue...I dont really see the point in stopping a fight with one second left, surely he could said nope your fucked at the end of the break? (question: do refs actually know how long is left?) Didn't seem pissed about the decision though.

I'm sure Cole knew it was near the end of the round, but I doubt he knew there was only one second left. He saw Hasegawa defenseless and getting pummelled against the ropes and he stopped it. I loathe Cole, but he made the right call here.

The biggest Hasegawa fan "Killersheep" wasn't here for this.
Wonder if he got news of this out in Italy?

This is def. a huge witn for Montiel and just what his career needed.
Great champions win titles on ANY land no excuses.
None of this I wont travel bullshit that some fighters seem to think they are entitled to...
