Mayweather is faster. That's obvious. His speed is amazing. Pacquiao is fast. But he's been made to look even faster than he really is cuz of all the slow fighters he's been facing. Clottey. Hatton. Old De La Hoya. Compared to them Pacquiao seems to be operating at warp speed. Mayweather speed was proven when he faced another fast fighter in Mosley.

no doubt that mayweather jr. has faster hands than pacquiao. not only that, he's got better ring intelligence, reflexes and defense. pacquiao's boxing ability has improved but he still gets tagged way too many times to be anywhere as intelligent as mayweather jr..

I think Floyd has a faster left jab and a quicker one punch from the hip. The other thing that helps Floyd is his amazing body control. Pacquiao has a faster combination punch than Floyd. His combination punches come from different angles and have surprising accuracy. Their foot work is comparable as far as speed is concerned.

So each fighter has his own speed advantage. There is only way to resolve the opinions.

Both fighters are accurate. But Floyd averages only 37 punches per round, and throws them conventionally. Manny averages 96 punches per round, and throws them in so many weird angles. If you'd do the math, I think the numbers will speak for it self.

...heck, Manny even has the ability to dart in and land both right hook and left hook at the same time and dart out quickly to avoid counter. Lol!

just because pacquiao throws over 90 punches per round and floyd jr. averages 37 means absolutely nothing. what counts is the quality of those punches. and if one looks at their records, mayweather jr. is the undefeated fighter with the superior boxing skills, who has never been stopped and/or kayoed by mediocre fighters.

I think what makes Floyd so tough for someone like Manny is that Floyd has the ability to pick off a punch and counter with power and IMMEDIATELY move out of the danger zone.

To beat Floyd, Pacquiao will have to avoid flush counters AND avoid the clinch if he ends up hurting Floyd.

Manny was 18 and 110lbs his first KO loss by KO was to Singsurat who at the time was no ordinary mediocre fighter

I agree with the over all speed part because Floyd has better over all movement and in ring control but IMO just going on hand speed Manny is faster...

Opinions are opionions and like fan johnny says there is only one way to prove it

Floyd is faster in single shots. Manny's faster in combos. At least that's how it looks when I watch them fight in slow motion.

In my opinion Floyd is faster.

I am no floyd fan either, I like Manny better as a fighter because he is willing to fight anyone, has a more exciting style and isnt afraid to lose. I think Floyd should have fought Hatton at 140 when Floyd was moving up, Cotto and Margs when they were both at the top of their game. Hopefully this proves I am no Floyd hugger.

BUT I think Manny leaves himself open and is troubled by a fast slick counter puncher ala JMM. And there is no one slicker and faster than the Money Man. Also Floyd is careful and patient.

As the old saying goes styles make fights and Manny is made for Floyd's style. I will be hoping Manny pulls out the win but see a pretty one sided beatdown by Floyd.

Actually, I would tend to agree with that affirmation. NOw as to who's better... let's pit them and see
