Vernon Forrest was a legitimate opponent.
True! & he gave Mora a beating in the return! Mosley beats him worse imo
Not like it's much of an excuse because I picked Forrest to beat him in both fights, but by all accounts Mora was badly weight-drained in the second fight.
Right out of the Allan Green excuse book! But he took his beating like a man! I was impressed by that...
Well, I don't want to derail the thread, but I think Mora's argument is as legitimate as any other fighter's. He is a natural 160lb'er who enjoyed himself too much after the 1st fight and didn't have enough time to drop the weight. It was his fault, but I think the excuse has some legitimacy. I believe he weighed in heavy and had to lose a pound or two right before the fight as well. That being said, I picked Forrest to beat him in the rematch long before his weight was a known issue and I think he would have lost regardless.
Well at least he can use that excuse again, as Majesty pointed out with the fight at 154 he going to have to cut weight again...
Well, according to Mora, he just needs an appropriate amount of time to make 154 in a healthy way. I don't think it matters though, as long as Mosley isn't totally shot he beats Mora.

If it's true that Mora can make 154 if he lives a healthy life then It won't be a whitewash like the 2nd forrest fight. I knew he was gonna lose that fight as soon as he had to retry to make the weight. But if its at 154 I really can see him pulling an upset, Shane at 154 isn't as big a threat as he would be at 154 and Mora has a great chin and nice speed and a good jab. So I don't think Shane would dominate him especially going back up to 154. I dunno why people sleep on Mora though. He has skills to trouble a lot of people.

Mora is basically a poor mans Maragrito. He isnt as tough or strong and Shane Mosleys style is made for exploiting these type of fighters. Its a perfect comeback fight for him.

Sergio did something Shane couldnt do to Vernon but I ant see him doing it here. He will be hit hard and often by Mosley who although he is in declne is still a capable boxer. If he keeps coming Shane will take him out. If he protects himself I can see it lasting 12.

I think Mosley has some left after Mayweather. But off the top I think its a bad-ugly style match up for Mosley....and fans.Mora can be fast, moves and more irritating than adversarial.Mosley will have to hunt and play the power game as it goes.Think Mora takes some rounds off stick and move but a none gun shy Mosley can except Moras "power",get off and gradually breaks him down for dec win.I just cant sleep thinking a champ like Mosley losses to a Mora.

I don't really care for mora too much either...but i'm glad the guy is getting a chance to fight again. I don't like him but a lot of people do and since vernon he's be shelfed. Hell win or loose let the guy fight someone. Either he'll win and take the next step up or loose and i think that would be the end of the guy.

Well sorry to the haters, and those that don't want to see this fight, but it's close to being finalized. Sergio told me Monday night (and it's starting to leak out to the media now as well), that Schaefer said the fight was his, as long as he cancels his fight against J C Candelo on July 23rd. He really didn't want to cancel it, because he really wanted to take on one more stay busy fight before he took on a bigger challenge, plus he hates that he has to cancel on someone, since it has happened to him so many times, and he knows how bad it sucks when someone does that to you, but this is a big opportunity, and he's taking it.

He understands it's a business, and GB is planning on sinking millions of dollars into promoting it, and they can't risk him getting cut. I guess GB is going to tie in about 2 weeks worth of events to celebrate the 200th year Mexican Independence Day, with this of course being the main event.

In regards to Sergio making 154, he can do it safely with the right amount of time, which he had before he fought Vernon the first time, the second time they fought he was give only 5 weeks, and he wasn't able to get down in time, and he paid the price.

And to those wishing him harm, I hope that no one ever publicly wishes harm to one of your friends.

I hope JC Candelo can forgive Mora Respects where they apply to Mora but he should have left the chair spinning jumping up to take a fight of this magnitude abd exposure...sounds like he came around.I honestly think he can take some rounds.Some.

    Smart ass.

Oh Sergio did jump at the chance to take this fight without hesitation, trust me, but the guy does have a conscious. It doesn't matter who your opponent is, when a fighter cancels on you when you've been training hard for weeks for a specific fighter, it sucks when they pull out of the fight. Sergio knows that better than anyone.

And can you blame him for hoping for one more fight beforehand, considering he's only had 1 fight in 21 months, mostly due to fighters cancelling on him.

I think Shane gets to him on the inside eventually wobbles him with a hook and then finishes the job within a few shots.

That was nice. But really we all know it was one fighter cancelling and reneging on contracts named kelly pavlik.
