Maybe you should learn the language? You are in Korea for a long time?
Who are you to judge my Korean language proficiency skills? I have a fair grasp of the language and can get around easily enough. I would argue that I am of a lower intermediate level of proficiency. However, that is clearly not enough to debate politics nor explain difficult concepts.
If I go out for a drink I like to speak in English. Even the Korean friends that I have are practically fluent in English.
That is an awesome drinking story miles....did you season your hand at all or just leave it cooked as nature intended?
My cousin tried the punching of inanimate objects to express his frustration whilst drunk too, unfortunately put his fist through a frosted glass window and had big shards of the stuff dug into his forearm. The amount of blood that was flowing sobered him up pretty quickly, but at least his was still joking with the doctor pulling all the glass out and stitching him up.
Since Miles is in Korea, I happened to stumble upon this crazy video.
good stuff.![]()
Well done, Miles.
To be fair my Korean should be better than it is. 3 years ago I spoke more fluently than I do now and that is because I stopped studying completely whilst doing my MA. It's not an easy language to learn and is made harder by doing a job where you should really be using your own language as much as possible. You finish a days work and it's more preferable to post on here than hit the books.
In better news, the wife has called it quits and it seems I am no longer in the doghouse. Unfortunately my fingers look a bit mangled and the middle one is still leaking a fair bit of water. That one's going to take a fair while to heal.
talk about cooking.
Try this and you wont regret it
1/2 kilo of chopped Chicken ( Around 8 pieces in total )
1/2 kilo of chopped Pork ( 1 and 1/2 inch cubes )
4 Pc Garlic ( Smash it and slice in tiny tiny pieces )
1/2 cup Vinegar
1 cup Soy sauce
1 spoon powdered black pepper
5 pcs dried bay leaves
Just mix everything together and cook it.
Lower the heat when it boils.
Goes well with rice![]()
This thread could do with a few good recipes. So, thanks for that!
In terms of news regarding burnt digits, two of my fingers are still painful put appear to be healing okay. The middle finger is a bit savage though. The centre of the blister has become a bit of a bloody ruined mess and is still surrounded by an ocean of white Michael Jackson esque skin. I've a feeling that one might leave a bit of scarring, but I can live with it. After all, I am a man! A man without any scarring is one who hasn't lived.
Your stories do make me smile, but I now genuinely fear for your health, both mental and physical.
I could never stay in a violent relationship. It's just not right. It's scary because one day she might punch you square in the face and it might really hurt. Despite never wanting to hit a women, you could do it without thinking and then everything is ruined.
I've never hit a women and never would, I'm sure you are the same. But everyone has a breaking point before they snap.
I honestly think that if a relationship gives you more bad times than good and if the balance can't be restored then there is no point carrying on. Other than of course history, but history is done.
I know, I realise some people are very amused by the miles in Korea thing, but at the same time I realise that it is getting a bit too screwed up. I am just a man trying to live his life. The stories that I tell are nothing less than true. And so for half of tonight I really was on the streets with nowhere to go and I couldn't get into my own home. And that's not easy when you are in a foreign country. You really think where do I go? What do I do? Okay I am back home but she has shredded our marriage documents and apparently we are being divorced tomorrrow.
I don't really know what I did wrong. Well, she has a quicker temper than me and refuses to acknowledge that she is wrong. That's the issue right there. Sure my stories are fun, but you are right. At some point it could end messily.
It's more the way you tell the stories rather than the content that makes me smile. (just so you know I'm not some sadistic freak laughing at your misfortune!)
From an outsider looking in, having only been reading your stories for a year or so, you seem to argue more than anyone else I know. Constantly something to row about. It's not healthy.
I think you (more your wife from what you've wrote) need to either chill out and let things slide, or get out and be happy. Sex says it all more often than not. Great sex = great relationship, poor/ no sex = bad times.
